Punk Poetry: You know about punk music, but punk poetry? Yup. John Baine (aka Attila the Stockbroker) was the opening act for several punk bands. John Cooper Clarke played himself in “Control,” the movie about Joy Division, in which he reads "Evidently Chickentown." And the Medway Poets went on to form the nucleus of the Stuckists, who, ironically enough, were a conservative counter-reaction to the conceptual art popular in British galleries.

Neil Young: Canadian musician Neil Young really doesn’t care what you think. His critical songs about the U.S. South got him name-checked in “Sweet Home Alabama.” His attack on music commercialism, “This Note’s For You,” was initially banned by MTV, but was later named MTV’s Video of the Year.
