In 146 BCE, Scipio Aemilianus finally entered the besieged Carthage, destroying it utterly. In fact, animosity ran so high between Rome and Carthage that Rome purportedly sowed Carthage with salt so it could never rise again. Chinese is one of the six U.N. languages.
