Answers

1. Mosquito-borne malaria is responsible for more than 300 million cases of malaria each year. Mosquitos can also carry dengue and yellow fevers, encephalitis, elephantiasis and canine heartworm.

2. A tigress known as "Champawat man-eater."

3. The researchers found that microscopic hairs on kidney bean leaves stab and trap the bed bugs which can then be destroyed, killing the parasites within.

4. TRUE. Ticks have four pairs of legs as adults and have no antennae.

5. Fleas carried by rodents helped spread the plague.
