Robert Whitley is director of three major international wine competitions -- Critics Challenge, the San Diego International and the Monterey Wine Competition -- and publisher of the acclaimed online wine publication WineReviewOnline.com. Whitley, an avid wine collector since the early 1970s, has been writing about wine since 1990, when he undertook the wine column for the San Diego Union-Tribune and, now, the Creators Syndicate "Wine Talk" column. Whitley is a lifelong journalist whose career includes stops at Newsday, The Washington Post, Washington Daily News, Charlotte Observer, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and The San Diego Union-Tribune. Widely respected for his expertise and tasting skills, Whitley has judged numerous wine competitions in the United States, as well as major wine fairs and expositions around the world.
