Trivia Bits for October 17

In 1972, Queen Margrethe II became Denmark's first female monarch in more than 500 years. But if that monarchy thing doesn't work out, she has career options. She studied prehistoric archaeology at Cambridge and still moonlights as a graphic designer. As "Ingahild Grathmer," she illustrated a 1977 Danish edition of "The Lord of the Rings," and she created stamps for both Denmark and Greenland. She has even designed the set and costumes for a 2005 production of Hans Christian Andersen's "Thumbelina" at Tivoli.

After leaving Genesis, Peter Gabriel only had one No. 1 hit, but that song was even more famous for its video. The stop-action animated video for "Sledgehammer" was created by Aardman Studios, which you know for "Chicken Run" and "Wallace and Grommit." The video won nine MTV Moonmen and routinely tops lists of the greatest videos ever made.
