1. Jack Johnson patented a wrench on April 18, 1922. He wanted "to provide an improved wrench, which in assembly presents a substantially unitary structure, and which may be easily dissembled for purposes of replacement or repair."

2. Yoshida Kogyo Kabushibibaisha, the world's largest zipper manufacturer

3. Mechanical engineer Whitcomb Judson.

4. The automatic dishwasher or "Cochrane Dish-Washer."

5. Dr. Benjamin Green developed the lotion to help the U.S. military devise ways to keep soldiers from getting sunburned in the Pacific theater of World War II.
