When Sean Connery quit playing James Bond, it seemed inconceivable that he could be replaced. Timothy Dalton passed because he was too young. So the producers instead picked an Australian model named George Lazenby. His only appearance as Bond was in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service," which got mixed reviews. Lazenby vanished, Connery came back for one film and the role eventually went to Roger Moore. Lazenby's acting career deteriorated, and by the 1990s, he did three soft-core "Emmanuelle" movies.
