Q: What is the actor who played Raul on "Young and Restless" doing these days? — Kimberly in Boise, Idaho
A: Just before his character was axed from "Young and Restless" David Lago won a Daytime Emmy. Lago was philosophical about the 2004 write off. His character was only supposed to be on the show for a week. The week turned into five years of strong story lines. Apparently, the day before he got the job, he had turned over his car to a friend because he could not make the payments. Lago was inspired to act by seeing all of Robin Williams' early movies. A few years prior to his Y&R gig, he had his own series on Animal Planet. After his stint on Y&R ended, Lago said he was going to give acting a rest and focus on his music group, Killing Darla. The plan to leave acting did not work out. Since his Y&R exit, Lago has made several films, including "Hollywood Horror," "Obsidere," "Patterns" and "A Couple of Days and Nights." As for Killing Darla, she is dead; the group disbanded.
Q: I think the character of Jeff Bardwell on "Young and Restless" is great. The actor also was great but so different when he played his identical twin, Will, on Y&R. I am going crazy trying to recall what other daytime drama he appeared on. Please return my sanity. — Jolie in Cleveland, Ohio
A: From 1977 to 1979, Ted Shackelford played Roy Gordon on "Another World." The veteran actor spent 14 years playing Gary Ewing on the primetime soap "Knots Landing." Shackelford took over the role when David Ackroyd (who also appeared on "Another World") quit.
Q: Is it true that Michael E. Knight (Tad) from "All My Children" and Catherine Hickland, who plays Lindsay on "One Life to Live," have divorced in real life? — Camay in Buffalo, N.Y.
A: Sadly, it is true. Married in 1992, the couple divorced in 2006. The duo fell in love when they lived in Los Angeles. Hickland recalls, "We were great friends and then it changed and we knew we wanted to be more than pals."
The reason Michael Knight went to Michael E. Knight is interesting. Hickland was married to David Hasslehoff for a while, and he played Michael Knight on "Knight Rider." The couple thought the name coincidence was too close for comfort. As for Hickland and Michael E., they have both said that their divorce was painful and believe their very different personalities created problems. Knight loves to stay home and Hickland has said she has never wanted to stay home a night in her life.
