Please contact your local newspaper editor if you want to read Aging Lifestyles's column in your hometown paper.
In nearly 30 years of investigative journalism as a reporter for the New York Daily News, Washington Star, Washington Daily News and Newark News, Joe Volz has covered everything from the Mafia to Watergate to the Pentagon.
He wrote a book on the mob called the "Mafia Talks" and was a Pulitzer Prize finalist with the Daily News for his reporting on military preparedness.
In the last decade he has explored the aging of American society.
Based in Washington, he looks at the issues from many angles. Volz watches congressional action (or inaction) closely on Capitol Hill, focusing particularly on Social Security and Medicare.
He has traveled the country listening to vibrant older Americans talk about such issues as health, retirement and financial security. As a member of the generation of Americans born before World War II, he takes a personal interest in those topics.
