Happy International Students' Day! It was on this date, 70 years ago, that the Nazis stormed the University of Prague to stomp on students protesting the killing of medical student Jan Opletal, who had been protesting the Nazi occupation. The Nazis went on to execute nine student leaders and sent more than 1,200 students to concentration camps. Moreover, they closed all Czech universities and colleges.

If you're a Sikh, you join a quasi-military religious community called the Khalsa by sharing a drink of sweetened water called amrit. Guru Gobind Singh ordered the Khalsa to wear the five kakkars, including a dagger called the kirpan and unshorn hair, called kes. Both of these have created controversy in Canada, which has a large Sikh community. The unshorn hair conflicted with helmet laws, while the dagger conflicted with zero-tolerance anti-weapon rules.
