Monday, April 29Queen Victoria managed to beat George III as oldest British monarch, then died three days later. She lived to be 81 years, 7 months and 29 days old, a record Elizabeth has since surpassed. But amazingly, Victoria spent 63 years and 216 days of that time as monarch. And Elizabeth will take that record, too, if she makes it to September 9, 2015. She is not, however, the world's longest-serving monarch: that's King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) of Thailand, who took charge in 1946.
