Horoscopes by Holiday, Week of November 8
The Scorpio sun takes us on a journey to the center of our own soul. Self-discovery is not entirely selfish, though, since it helps us relate to others. As we learn more about who we are, we are better able to recognize what others are going through.…Read more.

Horoscopes by Holiday, Week of June 14The fifth planet from the sun is the largest by a long shot — over two and a half times bigger than the rest of the planets combined. So naturally, early astrologers associated Jupiter with expansion, exponential growth and massive fortunes. This giant of our solar system begins a retrograde journey this week, suggesting that it's wise to think over our investments and consider carefully what we are putting our energy into. ARIES (March 21-April 19). Sure, you care about money. But it's not the most important part of your work — far from it. You will devote yourself to a pursuit because it brings you meaning and a feeling of transcendence. The financial part of the equation won't even enter your mind. Note: You are especially compatible with Libra this week. TAURUS (April 20-May 20). You'll be whooping it up some this week. To an outsider it looks like you're just having a good time, but what you're also doing is networking. Building relationships is a perfectly productive use of your time. The more people you know, the more access you have to information and resources. GEMINI (May 21-June 21). You hate to be too serious, but if you are to reach a goal by week's end, measures must be taken. Stay on track. If anyone keeps you waiting more than 30 minutes, leave — not because you're mad, but because you're paying attention to signals. You have a gracious way about you even as you guard your time. CANCER (June 22-July 22). You're at a critical point in a project or relationship. When negative feelings arise, overcompensate to squash them. Reach inside yourself to find bigger wells of strength. If you feel small, sing out in your loudest voice. If you lose hope, devote yourself with passionate enthusiasm. If you get tired, do twice as much. LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). You'd prefer to be shown copious amounts of admiration, attention and an expression of feeling from those around you. You don't need it, of course, but that is your preference. When loved ones know this, they'll act accordingly, though you may have to hint around or just state in plain terms what you want. THIS WEEK'S BIRTHDAYS: It's your year to blow past limits. You see a potential in yourself that you didn't before and go for it. Some basic barriers between you and perfect health will be lifted within the next four weeks. You'll be able to sleep better, deal with stress better and your digestion improves, too. You act in wonderfully spontaneous ways in July. VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). You sort through puzzles. You understand what the unintelligible person is saying. You decipher the meaning behind the lyric of the nonsense song. You are the great figure-outer of the world! This is especially timely now because someone close to you is confused and will depend on you to point out a logical direction. LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). Transitions don't have to be a dramatic event. Sure, you're going from what you know and love to what you don't know and aren't sure to like. And yes, that causes some stress. But you've changed in more drastic ways throughout your life without much fanfare. Be cool through this one. You'll look back and be proud. SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). Humans are a territorial kind of animal. So the snarling you do to claim or protect your territory is only natural. Don't beat yourself up if you react to someone's invasion of your space in a less than gentile manner. Outside observers will be touched to see your emotional, visceral investment in what's yours. SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). Stay unrelentingly positive. Think about the benefits of your current situation. It might be challenging at first — there's a lot about it that's less than ideal. But when you consider the valuable skills you are learning and the special friends you've made, this time period is in many ways quite wonderful. CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). Social interaction may have an uncomfortable edge to it now through Wednesday, but with quiet confidence and compassion you'll turn it around. Note: You don't need to lower yourself in order to be liked. Avoid the habit of putting yourself in a one-down position. Friday, you'll make a surprising amount of money. AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). You will be recognized for a contribution. You had to do something above and beyond the norm in order to be awarded, and you're proud of having risen to the occasion. So try not to deflect the praise that comes along with this. Stand and take it by saying "thank you" without downgrading the accomplishment. PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). There is something amiss in the status quo, and you are just the optimist to fix it. Build a team to do the job. This probably won't be a formal group, but a loose association of people with similar intentions. You'll get caught up in the spirit of the mission, and by the end of the week there will be a remarkable result. Holiday Mathis is the author of "Rock Your Stars."
