HOROSCOPES BY HOLIDAYThe Sagittarian spirit takes hold this week as the sun journeys through the early stages of this adventurous sign. The phrase associated with Sagittarius is "I see," and the desire to take in as many sights in the world as possible drives us forward. The Aquarian moon at the top of the week adds an extra dose of curiosity and further opens our mind to new possibilities. The midweek aspects will throw fun challenges into the mix. ARIES (March 21-April 19). Even if you find it easy to be emotionally close to others, you may find yourself backing off a bit now or wondering whether you can depend on someone. Choose self-sufficiency whenever possible this week. It's most important to know whether you can depend on yourself. From there, closeness with others is richer. TAURUS (April 20-May 20). If you've been granted the wisdom to recognize what you can't change, then you already realize how futile it is to try to get anyone to do what he or she doesn't want to do. Move past it. Make other arrangements. Be happy that everyone has a different style. Your joy will attract an even better arrangement. GEMINI (May 21-June 21). You'll get one of those so-called "nice problems to have," which probably includes choosing between two pleasant alternatives. Whether it's sorting out a trip abroad, maneuvering lifestyle upgrades or picking a name for your new family addition, life is full of win-wins. A Leo will be instrumental in your decision-making. CANCER (June 22-July 22). Take charge of your inner vocabulary. When you talk to yourself about yourself, use the right words. You are not hasty, just spontaneous. And when you feel hesitant, it's not because you are timid, but because you are cautious and gentle. A conscious shift in perception will make you feel like the winner you really are. LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). You'll be busy. Probably too busy. But instead of trying to stave off the aggravation, expense and fatigue of living your lifestyle, fling yourself into it full force with everything you've got. Living passionately is your forte, and you attract amazing luck by doing so. Plus, by the end of the week, you'll have a great story to tell. VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). Basic physics tells us that a body at rest tends to remain at rest and a body in motion tends to remain in motion. You use the principle to your advantage. It's easy for you to exercise daily and keep several projects in motion at once. You'll be the busy person everyone wants to engage in one way or another. LIBRA (Sept. SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). Try not to be petty. Judging people takes too much time, and it makes you miserable in the end. Be loving. Let the small stuff go. You probably won't get the respect you deserve from everyone early in the week, but if you stay upbeat, the difference will be more than made up by the end of the week. SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). The difference between trash and treasure is often both subtle and highly personal. You'll become attuned to the objects, people and other dynamics that hold meaning for you. Recognizing what you value, you'll be inclined to let go of what you don't. Saturday is an excellent time to shed the dead weight. CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). You're on a quest, and it feels like the galaxy is depending on you to get this one right. A personal change is part of the adventure. Breaking out of a mold was a problem for Han Solo, but thankfully, you haven't been cryonically frozen. You can do it, more easily if you have a friend who can help you. AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). You loaded up your proverbial plate with plenty, but now that you've had a few filling bites, you realize that it's all a bit much. A serious administrative session will help you get things into perspective. Prioritize your goals, and schedule the time needed to achieve them. A few hours of planning will rock your world. PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). The golf course appears to be an unbroken, solid sweep of green, but in fact, each blade of grass twists and bends in its own particular way. So it is with the people in your life. Up close, they are real characters, each with his or her own funny quirks. It's nothing to try to control. Just enjoy the collective effect. THIS WEEK'S BIRTHDAYS: The year is bustling with fun and bursting with creative opportunities. A project you've put your heart into gets public praise in December. February seals a deal. March has a cozy, romantic feel until the end of the month, when you'll be traveling outside your comfort zone — an exhilarating ride! A financial risk pays off in June. Family additions happen in August. September heals a relationship. Love signs are Leo and Libra. Your lucky numbers are 1, 7, 35, 51 and 30. Holiday Mathis is the author of "Rock Your Stars."
