Mercury in Gemini
If this month were a casserole, this week would be bake-time. All of the ingredients were diced, sliced and assembled in the cosmic busyness of recent weeks, and now it's time to settle in and let life finish the job. Before making an effort, double check to make sure that an effort needs to be made. Good cooks know the perils of opening the oven door too often. On Thursday, Mercury slips into Gemini, and communication gets even easier.
ARIES (March 21-April 19). The counterculture phrase of the '60s was: "Turn on, tune in, drop out." These days it's nearly impossible to "tune in" until after you've turned off your text and email alerts and the dozens of other sources of entertainment and distraction that barrage your digital life. Real human connection will be your rich reward.
TAURUS (April 20-May 20). Sometimes you suspect that the mystics and geniuses are right about life being an illusion. And yet, if you can't snap out of it, what does it matter? This week brings influences that will shake up your perception and help you bust free of the mindset and point of view that entrap you.
GEMINI (May 21-June 21). You have the ability to mentally leap ahead like a master chess player strategizing the end game, though this kind of projection might not help you as much as you hope it will. The problem with the next moment is that you can't live it. So stay in this one — the only one in which you have real power.
CANCER (June 22-July 22). Nikola Tesla claimed, "The day science starts to study nonphysical phenomena, it will make more progress in one decade than in all the previous centuries of its existence." Too bad nonphysical phenomena are so difficult to measure. You'll try your darndest with this week's experiments in joy and spirituality.
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). You're adept at role-playing once you understand the role. The problem is, someone has cast you in a role you don't know much about. Like an actor, you'll need to research to find your purpose and motivation. Once you comprehend the dynamic, you'll either execute brilliantly or decide you want nothing to do with the role.
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). Personal development coaches espouse taking time to get to know yourself, but the truth is that self-knowledge rarely comes out of a leisurely exploration. It happens when you're in the heat of action, focused on others and on getting a job done. It will be quite accidental the way you bump into yourself this week.
LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). Too much reality has a way of squashing the imagination. That's why long boring stretches are so fortifying to your creativity. Whenever things get super-dull this week, take it as a blessing. This will motivate your next venture into greatness. Lucky partners in creativity are Pisces and Leo.
SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). A special relationship will require that you give yourself over to it heart and soul. It's not such a comfortable feeling to invest so much of yourself, but your willingness to be uncomfortable will be, at the end of the day, what makes the commitment heroic. Note that getting love back, in this case, isn't the point.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). A focus change is called for this week. The human brain is wired to remember bad experiences more vividly than good ones. Reversing the tendency takes work. Each day, focus on three things that made you feel good and make those experiences strong in your mind by writing or talking about them.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). Sure, there are skills to be learned and improvements to make, but there's much to be celebrated about the person you already are. The one who best appreciates this might be someone you don't know well, only because your friends and family are used to your greatness already.
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). Love may grow over time, but it's not the time that's making it grow — it's the emotional progression, each stage unfolding in order like beautiful choreography. This week you will become connected with another very quickly because you do love's dance so beautifully together.
PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). It's been said that we don't fall in love with people; we fall in love with the feelings we get when we are around them. That's why this week you will be extra-mindful to check in with and take care of the emotional well-being of others to the extent that you can. At the very least, you make the environment cheery.
THIS WEEK'S BIRTHDAYS: It's your year for getting into better physical and emotional shape. Complementary relationships help this. May is a month of feeling safe enough to lower your inhibitions and raise your expectations of life and love. It's a risk that will work out for you. The party follows you wherever you go in June. The good fortune that befalls you in July will come in the form of relationships and develop into the form of money. Invest it in your own education, and you'll double it by the end of the year.
