Horoscopes by Holiday for June 22

Remember the "Sesame Street" song with the lyrics, "One of these kids is not like the other"? It was a tune that, funnily, played while kids bopped around in boxes on the screen. Today, we can do our own thing by getting outside the box of our habitual thinking by shaking up our routines. The moon in Aquarius finds freedom in doing so.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). You're able to uphold your policy, "no negativity, no drama," and still have your life hum with excitement. Your success formula involves happy thoughts and limited access to that person who is mired in a rut.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). It's no news that exercising gives you a natural high. You're pleased to find other ways to produce the same result, which may include playing with children, singing or witnessing amazing human feats.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). The old way of thinking is that if no one puts up a fight, no one gets a chance to win. You're of the new school of thought — if no one fights, everyone wins. Perpetuate your message.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). Your ambition might be tempered by the realization that work always leads to more work. If you're not sure, don't sign up. Dare to be free of obligations. It's then that you figure out what you really want to do.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). The zodiac wheel declares that first you will feel buoyant and filled with optimism, then you will manifest the hard evidence of those feelings. So get happy now. The reason is coming.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (JUNE 22). In a world that's overly focused on the negative, you're a rebel. You dare to seek novelty, levity and joy — this year you find it more places than not. It's like you've hit a gold mine of fun. The next 10 weeks represent a liberation of your creativity. Whatever was keeping you from the money you deserve is conquered in August. Pisces and Libra adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 8, 3, 1, 14 and 16.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). What do you want to be known for? The answer to that question has changed for you over the years and is changing still. However, you're now struck with some mighty lasting ideas on the subject.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). You motivate people. It's not entirely because they are afraid of disappointing you, although there is a little bit of that. It's mostly because they want the experience of being like you in some regard.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). Your choices seem, at first, to be amazingly varied. But when you start poking around and feeling the difference between this one and that one, there's no choice at all. You know what you must have, and you go for it.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov.
22-Dec. 21). You have the get-it-done attitude. That's why the ones who are serious will hand the job over to you. You probably don't even realize how difficult it would be for others to duplicate what comes naturally to you.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). All you have to do is mention that you have a problem, and the "experts" are out in force. Question everything you hear, including the voice of your mind that claims the things you speak of are indeed a problem.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). You make a terrific impression at a distance. The communications you have by mail, Internet and phone entice others to try to meet with you in person. You're even better one on one, but your time is limited. Be judicious.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Drop the impossible schedule that's causing you stress and start from scratch. If you take half of the activities off the slate for next week, you'll be in much better emotional and physical balance.

FORECAST FOR THE WEEK AHEAD: It's a relatively quiet week, with one rowdy exception — Uranus, the sky god, appears to move backward, or retrograde, in the sky (through November). The planet Uranus has many original features, like his orbit. Unlike "the other planets" (top-spinners) Uranus' erratic motion looks more like a ball rolling — sideways. "Why be predictable when I can be freaky-fabulous?" says he. Likewise, the planet symbolizes our own need for originality, freedom to do our own thing, and humanity's impulse to meaningfully evolve and change. Marching to the beat of a different drummer, Uranus' influence on us earthlings commonly elicits reactions, behaviors and events that defy common human sense. Ah, you're being logic-liberated! Like the other trans-personal planets (Neptune, Pluto), Uranus' "goal" is to move us beyond the personal, familial and social forces that shape personality, to progressively move us up the food chain — to the larger human family. Moving retrograde, this mover-and-shaker energy may temporarily get louder before going quiet, though it's hard to say, as Uranus is utterly unpredictable. Many folks will be quietly re-evaluating a new direction during this period; for just as progress is an outworking of inner changes, revolution starts from within.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: Cancer Meryl Streep holds the record for the most Academy Award nominations of any actor. Meryl: sobbing. Meryl: coldly calculating. Perhaps no dramatic actor has more power to appeal to our emotions than this moon-ruled sign. Her moon in Taurus modifies the more thin-skinned tendencies of her sun sign. There's drama, but observe how comfortably at ease she is in her emotional skin.
