  • Horoscopes by Holiday for July 4
Happy birthday, America! A Cancer sun sign nation, the American national "spirit" is unequivocally sentimental and patriotic. Today's Leo moon ups the celebratory vibe and doesn't fall short on pride and loyalty, either. Folks wear their …

  • Horoscopes by Holiday for July 3
The maternal Cancer moon nurtures connections. It's a dandy time to spruce up our home, get out the grill, for the Fourth of July is upon us. As gatherings of old familiar faces kick into high gear, even if we don't have a nurturing bone in our body,…

  • Horoscopes by Holiday for July 2

If you like Holiday Mathis, you might enjoy

Have you wondered how to see beyond the obvious? An old-world practice called "scrying" (often diminished as hocus-pocus) uses everyday objects to tap one's intuition or clairvoyance for clear inner seeing. Today's Scorpio moon bodes well for "scrying" those everyday solutions that elude. What intuition doesn't answer, common sense does.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). You strike a delicate balance by staying within your own boundaries. You enjoy the eccentricities of others without allowing those same qualities to disrupt your plans too much.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). You need care. You can and should pamper yourself like crazy now without breaking the bank. The best remedies are natural and not at all costly — for instance, taking a nap.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). Those who have less experience look to you for support. They may be tragically off the mark, but don't feel you must correct everything you see. Small steps matter. Praise the ambition and help them with the plan.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). Anyone can bring people together for an important cause. But it takes a special kind of person to bring people together for a seemingly insignificant cause. They'll thank you for it either way.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). Though you are highly principled, you are also open-minded and mature enough to realize that the whole world doesn't share the framework that works so well for you. The height of human evolution is tolerance.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (MAY 17). You are relentless in your pursuit of an important goal. Discipline hardly feels difficult as you do what it takes to make it to the vision you have set for yourself. By the end of May, you already have something significant to show for your effort. Singles laugh and love, then commit in August. The connection you share with Sagittarius and Aquarius is magical. Your lucky numbers are: 7, 10, 53, 17 and 39.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). The planetary alignment highlights your more unusual qualities. Others see you as an exotic figure or a mystery to be figured out. Your powers of attraction are going full force.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). Call the friend you lost touch with, wash the car, return the library book. The more odds and ends you can wrap up, the better you'll feel. Focus on getting rid of stuff, rather than adding to what you've already got.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). You deserve to feel wonderful.
Why you? Why not? This is no time to ask questions. Hold on to good feelings, even as someone around you seems a little jealous of your happiness.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). There is no shortage of inspiration around, though you might not know where to start to get your project off the ground. Before you act, do a few hours more of research.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). You needn't buy a new outfit or change your hair. It's your effectiveness that makes you most attractive. Logic is loveable. Savvy is sexy. Someone finds your pragmatism absolutely irresistible.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). There's such a wide array of choices available to you now that it's hard to tell what's normal. Your best bet is to forget the notion of normalcy altogether. Freaky is fun.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). You are fascinated by a certain area of study, even though you didn't find it — it found you. This is a nudging from the universe. There will be more interesting developments when you follow your curiosity.

ASTROLOGICAL QUESTIONS: "I've been interested in this guy for a while. He's a Sagittarius. I joined a dating service, the kind where you don't see the members till you answer a lot of questions. His picture was the first one they gave me (but he doesn't have mine). Do you think the fates are trying to tell me something? How do I approach this?"

A serendipitous event, indeed! And you bring up a fine topic that astrology corroborates nicely: the fates, omens, synchronicity, serendipity as evidence of a divine timing at work. When you see a "sign, take it as such. Signs remind us that we're connected to something far larger than our everyday consciousness realizes, and the challenge is letting go of what we thinks the omen might mean, and instead flowing with the mystery. The best way to snag a Sagittarius — wing it. The more spontaneous and casual you are in approach, the more likely you'll capture his interest. When you send him your picture, be captivating from the get go — make it a postcard from your last trip to Thailand.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: Can success be described by a Sun sign? Appearances can be deceiving; what's more real is an inner sense of achievement — and that know-how belongs to the sun. By drawing on Taurean traits of determination, persistence and artistry, Tori Spelling has taken charge of her career, and by doing so, discovered the personal validation that only comes from living in her sun sign strengths.
