Horoscopes By Holiday for April 23

If you like Holiday Mathis, you might enjoy

As Lady Venus toggles with Mars and Jupiter today, the person, thing or situation we want most may leave us wanting for more. If we're vexed by a potential love, it's a delightful predicament. Indulge in the fantasy for a moment, but by tonight you're likely to come back to reality, which is just as interesting but in a different way.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). In order to get a jump on opportunities, you have to think ahead. Anticipate what others might need before they need it. A Leo finds your quirks and idiosyncrasies perfectly charming.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). While you're hard at work, the spotlight swings in your direction. You're humble and honest, even as you sell yourself. Just don't forget the part where you sell yourself! It's absolutely necessary.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). Analysis and improvement are the order of the day. You might feel a bit picked on, both by outsiders and by your own psyche. That part isn't fun, but at least it's motivating.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). Instead of taking moments for relaxation, make relaxation your prevalent attitude. That way, If there are any setbacks, you'll take them in stride and move on quickly.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). Let others know where you're coming from and what you expect. You'll connect with people who are similarly honest and communicative. A meeting of minds stirs the passion of hearts.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (APRIL 23). You deepen your connection to your core self. You figure out quickly what you need and what you don't, where you want to be and what situations you need to leave in order to get there. New business in May is exciting. A whole team of supporters around you helps you win this summer. You get along famously with Scorpio and Sagittarius. Your lucky numbers are: 8, 17, 30, 24 and 16.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). Doing what you want to do is not always in your best interest. Still, strive for balance — you can't deny yourself all of the time! You teach others through your maturity.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). There's a chance to make and receive first impressions. The new people you meet make you feel terrific. Keep commitments lighthearted and loose and no one gets hurt. Tonight, last minute socializing works out splendidly.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). Sincere enthusiasm is impressive and can win you a job. You are most productive in the absence of a loved one.
Extra rehearsal ensures the success of a project.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). An enchanting presence in your life makes you know you are wanted, not needed. It's a nice position to be in. The pressure is off and anything you give is a bonus.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). Set your aim as high as you dare; it's your day to shine. Tonight, someone close to you is afraid of your judgment. Give pats on the back. Encourage others to be themselves around you.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). Double your chances of getting lucky by having a backup plan up your sleeve. When you're prepared for anything to happen, you go forward with the kind of confidence that attracts only the best.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). It's like a hide-and-go-seek game now — no one tells you where the opportunities are, but ready or not, here you come. Keep your eyes open and you'll hit the jackpot.

ASTROLOGICAL QUESTIONS: "The guy I'm dating (crazy about, actually) is a Gemini. You always mention in your column about how Gemini are charming, and he definitely fits the description. He's also super good-looking, so that makes it even easier for him to relate to women. I know he's a flirt, and that doesn't really bother me. But what I'm wondering about is that he told me he's been with many women and been unfaithful to every one of them. He says that we're different. He says he really loves me. Can I trust him? Signed, Virgo in Deep."

By telling you that he has been unfaithful in all his relationships, he's warning you so that when you find out he has cheated, he can say, "I told you who I was." And he'll be right. Cheating is usually a deal-breaker for Virgo women. Earth signs in general just can't see why such behavior should be tolerated, and usually take it personally. But there are other points of view. Some people can actually be happy in a situation where infidelity, though not ideal, doesn't end the relationship. Now it's just about deciding if you could be that kind of person.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: A model of composure, by all appearances nothing unnerves Renee Zellweger. Yet for Taurus people, situations that threaten their sense of security and order generate major anxiety. Renee has admitted that she's especially rattled by those fans who have penetrated her inner sanctum — her home. This year, Renee builds security and supports that keep her feeling cozy and safe.
