Horoscopes By Holiday for April 22

Happy Earth Day, nature lovers! The Cretans once celebrated this time of year with bull-leaping festivals (a fertility rite for the bull goddess Tauropolos), symbolically seizing the "bull by the horns." Mars, allied with Uranus today, takes a modern leap on bravery; by tackling what's holding our spirit down, we round a hurdle triumphant.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). Hopefully people you work with realize that you're the one they should be consulting when new problems crop up. Your finger is on the pulse now. You come up with the cutting-edge solutions.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). You're active, endeavoring physical feats before thinking about whether you should. The result is either a performance of stunning grace or an accident. Either way, you're learning your limits.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). You're simply aching to get into a rather exclusive situation. When you're not armed with all that's needed to make it through the gate, you know how to be disarming toward the gatekeeper. Pour on the charm.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). Stamina is kind of your thing these days. Whatever the battle, you'll endure. There are extra bonus points if you do so with a smile. After all, you know you're going to win eventually.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). Following the line of reason presented to you by a smart friend, you could become conscious of the unconscious. The most beautiful moment of your day will be an "aha!" moment.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (APRIL 22). You have eagle vision for the next three weeks and can see all possible paths and where they lead. By June, you decide the absolute right way for you. You have support, both emotional and financial. In September, you make it your business to help your friends, and your friends help your business. Scorpio and Cancer adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 8, 11, 20, 14 and 45.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). You have an inkling that your idea is true, but you observe no evidence of it — at least not on the outside. Go with internal knowledge. What you can't see, you can feel.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). You may follow a plan for adventure, but thank goodness it veers off course now. Because what goes as expected is less than thrilling. Adventure is always in the cracks and crevices of the plan.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). The action that goes down not is all happening in a little way. Small scale trials, tests and transformation are getting you ready for the big stuff.
Think of this as a drill for the real deal.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). Excellence is what you're striving for — more than money, power and even more than love. That's why you'll turn down offers and invites that others would take in a heartbeat. You care that much about being great.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). You already have all of the parents you need. So stand up to the one who is bossing you around. State kindly that the advice given is largely unnecessary and unwanted.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). Life requires a whole lot of physical exertion. You may not think you have any excess energy or aggression to work off, but get moving and you'll find out that perhaps you do!

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Your personal life brings a baffling twist. Don't try to figure it all out just yet. Milk the delicious mystery of it all. It's more fun not to know right away, and maybe not ever to know.

ASTROLOGICAL QUESTIONS: "I was born 6/19/69. Since 9/11/01, my professional life has taken a huge hit and I've constantly struggled to rebound, yet continually find myself with a company that the cover of the book doesn't match the contents. I'm single and my career has come before marriage and my own family. What do you see for me professionally and personally?"

Geminis are in the fortunate and precarious position of being adaptive spirits, clearly advantageous in the modern world. Be it an emergency trip to a satellite office to fix sales figures, or helping a co-worker with a presentation, you're interested and engaged. Yet facile busyness scatters energies. Imagine lying on your deathbed when the epiphany hits: Oops, I forgot to get married and have kids! Perhaps this sounds dramatic. But Saturn's transit through Virgo has you (and other Geminis) remembering the life you forgot to live, the person you forgot to be while on the way to "somewhere else." Somewhere else may be an illusion. We only have this moment. So start where you are. For a life that supports your whole being, you've got to create it. In fact, inflexibly, insist on it.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: Taurus Michael Moore is a on a mission. Agree with him or not, his unrelentingly bullheaded tactics has fostered cultural dialogue about pressing issues. What's next for Michael? Having covered terrorism, gun control and health care, I'd venture to say his next effort involves exposing environmental polluters — he could even team up with Al Gore. Taurus-born are protectors of the earth.
