Horoscopes By Holiday for April 1

If there were a planet assigned to tomfoolery, it would be Mercury, the cosmic chameleon. As the master of disguise himself ends a passage through Pisces, today's pranks are mystifying, obscure or just plain wild. Watch out for crazy tricks! Certain precocious people have a wizardly capacity to pull one over on us.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). You see opportunities around you that you simply don't have time to take advantage of. It's a sign that your mind is in the right place — open. Notice and move on. Leave something for the rest of the world to do.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). Meetings are precarious. Maybe they'll go badly. Or maybe you'll hit it off, create a resplendent cohesion and become a legendary duo. But you'll never know until you make the first move.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). If your planets had a song today, a church organ would play it. You carry a feeling of reverence in your heart and are humbled by your surroundings, which you see as awesome.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). It's been proven repeatedly that contentment is internally generated and has nothing to do with economics or social status. You now raise your satisfaction level and life brings you even more of a good thing.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). You'll get another one of your signs that there are unseen forces at work in the world. This time, it's an intricate coincidence involving so many moving parts that it could never have been willfully orchestrated.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (April 1). Don't be surprised if decisions take you longer this month. Your identity is changing, and you need time to ease into new choices. Soon you'll settle in and have the overall sense of having "arrived." Career matters resolve in June, and with the extra money you make, you finally feel like you're getting a fair deal. Cancer and Libra adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 18, 2, 50, 45 and 22.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). A jog down memory's path highlights the many wonderful things other people have done for you in the name of love. Remembering will make it easier for you to deliver on what a loved one is asking of you lately.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). When you were first trusted with a responsibility, you thought you had plenty of time to get it right. But here comes hour 11, and there's still a lot to get done. Keep cool. You're brilliant under pressure.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). Listen, and fall in line. Your ability to follow directions precisely will make life better, not only for you but for the rest of the people on your team.
You make major advances when you can duplicate the leader.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). You'll be amazed by all you can accomplish when people need you. What you lack in material resources, you more than make up for in focused attention.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). For a worker-bee like you, there's nothing worse than feeling obligated to have some fun. Therefore, you'll have to make extra sure that the leisure time you're planning is a juicy delight that you can really look forward to.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). If you're a little baffled as to what happened to create the bit of turbulence you run into today, it's probably the result of following some bad advice. Not all the thoughts that are in your head are your own, you know.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). The end not only will not justify the means, it will be a tell-all testament to the means. Mercury's activity makes it easier for you to see how everything is reflected in everything else.

ASTROLOGICAL QUESTION: "Since Saturn entered Virgo, I've been aware I need to develop a healthier lifestyle, but when it comes to doing just that, I fall back on bad habits. Any advice for this procrastinating Gemini?"

Sure! Every sun sign has star health habits. For Gemini, sandwich bags filled with nutritious snacks act as secret weapons to ward off that bummer of a mood that comes when you're hungry. Legumes, nuts, honey and citrus fruits are the lucky foods that help you avoid the bronchitis, colds and allergies that can crop up when you're feeling down. Plenty of sleep is also crucial for healthy Geminis, who may find the need to implement personal rules about caffeine consumption. My advice — respect the 4 p.m. cutoff point. For exercise, try yoga, booty ballet, ball class — anything bouncy, trendy and fun. Workout tip: It's the daily things, like gardening, walking to a far-off parking place where you parked on purpose or taking the stairs instead of the elevator, that make the biggest difference in your fitness level. Your favorite gear: A DVD collection of fun workouts — lots of variety to keep you interested. Get in stellar shape with my book, "Rock Your Stars."

CELEBRITY PROFILES: It's not easy being the little sister. Jamie Lynn Spears has the delightful pluck and spunk of firecracker Aries — and the power to define her self against all odds. Owing to the certain emotional conflict surrounding her big sister, this year, Jamie puts feathers in her wisdom cap by pulling back from the media conflict and avoiding over-involvement in a battle that's not hers to fight.
