MiCorder Offers an Easy Alternative for Recording Music

Share Comment

Now you can record music from almost any source without using a computer. The mobile MiCorder is a new product from Olens Technology that makes recording music and audio files much easier.

Although there are products on the market designed to convert music from vinyl albums, cassette tapes and CDs into an MP3 file, most require a special turntable, a big tape player or a computer. The MiCorder converts sound to an MP3 format and records it onto a standard SD card. Therefore, music can easily be transferred to any computer, iPod, cell phone, MP3 player or car stereo.

The mobile unit records from audio sources by simply plugging into the earphone jack, converting the sound into an MP3 file, and storing it on an SD card. It records from any radio, computer, stereo, CD player, phonograph, cassette deck, 8-track, reel-to-reel, DAT, or any other device that has a stereo output.

"People were always telling me they wanted to listen to their old vinyl albums or cassettes on their iPod or in their cars," says Ron Meritt, president of Olens Technology. "Musicians want to record their music, and some people want something to record a radio program and listen to it at another time. With MiCorder, there is now one very simple and inexpensive device that will do all of these things."

The MiCorder includes a backlit LDC display and a built-in microphone for personal recording. It comes with a USB cable, a set of ear-buds as well as a rechargeable battery that will last up to 14 hours.

Retail price for the MiCorder is $80. For more information, call 805-489-3636 or visit www.olenstechnology.com.

I'VE NEVER ... ?

Learn more about your family and friends with the new board game, I've Never ... ? This outrageous game of truth from INI, LLC — winner of the 2010 National Parenting Center's Seal of Approval — has a family edition that offers appropriate questions and activities to help you discover things you never knew about your loved ones.

The game play is simple and quick moving: roll the die, move your playing piece, and follow the instructions on the space where you land.

For example, talk like a baby or imitate your best friend. Every third or fourth space tells you to draw and read an I've Never card aloud.

Some of the questions include: "I've never had a crush on a teacher?" or "I've never had a bird poop on my head?" or "I've never had detention?" Based on the answer, the person either moves forward on the board or has to engage in an activity.

For example, for the question of bird poop on the head, if this is true, the card says, "Move forward one space." If the answer if not true, the cards says "Move forward three spaces. You deserve it!" As for never having detention, if you answer true, you are instructed to tickle the person next to you. If you answer not true, the card says, "Tell us what you did."

For older folks, there is an adult version of I've Never ... ? And, yes, it is a drinking game. The object of the game is to get everyone to admit to doing crazy stuff, get silly, and have fun while doing it. Questions and activities on the cards are a bit racier, including: "I've never cheated on a test/exam." If you've never cheated, you get to pick someone to drink. If you have, you have to drink two.

Even if you don't land on a spot to select an I've Never card, the activities chosen as you traverse the board are aimed at adults including, "take a drink" or "do a shot."

Contents include: game board, game rules, dice, 8 playing pieces, 100 I've Never ... ? question cards and 10 make-up-your-own cards.

Both versions retail for $20. The family edition is appropriate for ages 8 and up, while the adult version is for those 21 and over. For more information, call 800-278-7279 or visit www.ivenevergame.com.
