Bring the Outdoors Inside with Electric Birds

Constantly on the hunt for sources to incorporate into her pillows, table linens, tapestries and lavender sachets, Sylvie Guieysse is introducing a new series called Electric Birds.

With her new collection, Guieysse maintains her trademark aesthetic of mixing Japanese patterns with pop art and organic elements. Featuring vintage and imported print fabrics, all products are handmade in the designer's studio in Brooklyn.

While past collections featured birds in a peaceful state against Zen-like, tranquil backgrounds, the Electric Birds selection captures winged creatures in motion, highlighting the energy of their flight.

Electric Birds pillows not only incorporate a bold and saturated color palette, but they also have a range of decorative backgrounds, such as interlocking octagonal patterns and whimsical knotty pine. The result is a collection that crosses into two realms: modern vintage and traditional designs with a touch of cheeky humor.

Pillows are available in a range of styles and sizes. Square pillows are 18 inches by 18 inches or 20 inches by 20 inches. Rectangular sizes are 10 inches by 14 inches and 16 inches by 20 inches. Retail prices range from $45 to $90.

To add scent to style, Sylvie-Pillows offers Electric Birds lavender sachets. Filled with naturally dried lavender, each sachet measures 4 inches by 4 inches. The sachets come in a set of three, which are packaged in an organza pouch. The lavender sachets are ideal to take on a trip to keep packables smelling fresh, and they will also help refresh rooms, drawers and closets.

Four colors are available: sunshine yellow, sky blue, lime green and bright white. Each sachet features a contrasting pattern on the backside — interlocking patterns, Asian botanicals and florals — especially chosen by the designer. Each set retails for $29.

Guieysse, the founder and creative director behind Sylvie-Pillows, likens this new collection to awakening in a summer cottage to a splendid morning in July.

You open the window and see birds flying. "I wanted to translate this amazing sensation of freedom," she said.

The sleek, energy-efficient Ribbon Lamp is designed for those seeking a versatile and affordable light source.
