Wayne Brady is aiming for a reconciliation with his ex.
The multi-faceted performer/"Don't Forget the Lyrics" host and wife, Mandie, divorced last April after a marriage of some eight years. Wayne wants us to know that they would still be together "if I hadn't been a complete idiot and remarkably counterproductive, with a definite need to mature."
He credits Mandie with being "my best friend in the world" and adds, "If it weren't for her, I wouldn't be where I am today."
Mandie and he, he adds, "are still definitely very much in each other's lives." And as far as he's concerned, "There's a strong possibility we may revisit the marital territory before long."
Brady hopes that goal will be moved closer by the song "You and Me" from his new "A Long Time Coming" album, with lyrics that include: "No matter what happens, even if we can't be a couple, then we can still be friends ... I loved you enough to have a child with you."
"You and Me" will be among the numbers Wayne sings at his Oct. 22 concert at the Anaheim House of Blues. Seated in the front row of the venue, he says, "will be my No. 1 fan — my 5-year-old daughter, Maile."
Her presence at the gig means that the youngster will be getting home way past her bedtime, but as far as Wayne is concerned, "Every second I have with my child is precious for us both. My father was in the military. He didn't want me raised as a military brat and had me raised by my grandparents. Before my father's passing, we had this talk, and he told me of his regrets about not having been there for me. I vowed that wouldn't happen to my children."
Brady's goal to be a full-time father means that young Maile, he says, "is at every segment of 'Don't Forget the Lyrics' I tape, at every stage show I do." She's also on hand when he performs four nights a week at his showroom at Las Vegas's Venetian Hotel.
"I fly to L.A. and pick her up so she can be in Vegas with me," he says, "then fly her back to L.A.
HOW TO WIN FRIENDS II: Move over, Paris Hilton! Thanks to MTV there's more than one celebrity looking to expand their circle of friends. Brody Jenner has been filming his latest reality show, "Bromance," in which contestants square off to become one of his best bros.
"Basically, we're taking reality television and the whole genre and completely flipping it on its head," says Jenner, who is also starring on "The Hills." "There are going to be a lot of surprises. It's going to be funny. There are going to be practical jokes. It's going to be sad. It's got all the elements of anywhere from a dating show to 'Punk'd.' It's a very well-rounded show, and we've had a blast filming it."
However, just because it's for reality television doesn't mean Jenner's not taking it seriously. "I'm a big friend person. I like to surround myself with good people. There are a couple of guys that we would definitely hang out with," he claims.
Of course there are those who have other things on their minds — like simply being on TV. "The audience is going to have to judge for themselves," he responds. "As far as I'm concerned, yeah, I think there are some of those."
ANOTHER REALITY: Speaking of Brody Jenner … There are many fans of "The Hills" who think the show brought two of reality TV's most conniving cast members together, but it ain't so, reveals Heidi Montag, standing by her man Spencer Pratt. "We met a year into filming the show. Brody [Jenner] and Kristin Cavallari introduced us," she says of the one-time couple. Ah, two reality stars helping out another! Sweet. However, she doesn't want us to forget another little helper — destiny. "I would have found him some way," Heidi reassures.
UP TEMPO: Hollywood choreographer Shane Sparks is on hiatus at the moment from "America's Next Best Dance Crew" as it recently wrapped its second season, but he tells us he has no plans of slowing down. "You can't. Once you start working you can't take a break because you don't know if it's going to come back or not," he notes. "You've got to hustle until you get at that level where you can take a break and it won't affect you."
