DEAR STACY: Sally Pressman of "Army Wives" is so lovely. Where have we seen her before, and can you tell a little about her? — Paula W., East Islip, N.Y.
DEAR PAULA: Born Sally Bernstein in New York City in 1981, Pressman is a theater arts graduate of Yale University, where she participated in plays including "The Merchant of Venice" and "Freedomland." She is also a classically trained ballerina. Her role as Roxy LeBlanc in "Army Wives" is her breakout vehicle, though she was previously seen on shows including "Shark" and "Criminal Minds," as well as the independent feature "Dread." She did an episode of "The New Adventures of Old Christine" this year, and in April, she was seen starring in the made-for-television movie "Love Sick: Secrets of a Sex Addict."
DEAR STACY: Whatever became of Louise Lasser, who was so famous as "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman"? — Janice E., Santa Monica, Calif.
DEAR JANICE: At age 69, Lasser, one-time wife of Woody Allen and one of the hottest talents in show business back in the '70s, has popped up occasionally on big and small screen in recent years, including the 2003 "National Lampoon's Gold Diggers," in 2000 on "Requiem for a Dream" and the 2001 telepic "Club Land." She has a forthcoming independent feature comedy co-written by and starring Keith Black, called "Driving Me Crazy" that features a number of familiar faces, including Mickey Rooney, Joe Bologna and Ren?e Taylor, Celeste Holm and Dick Cavett. Lasser also cultivated a second career as an acting teacher in New York City.
DEAR STACY: We liked the new "Get Smart" with Steve Carell, but want to know, wasn't there a feature film made with the original TV show cast? A lunch bet among friends is riding on your answer. — Chris B., Cleveland, Ohio
DEAR CHRIS: Yes, it was the 1980 Don Adams feature, "The Nude Bomb," which, unfortunately, lived down to its title. Dana Elcar played The Chief and Barbara Feldon's character, Agent 99, wasn't even mentioned.
DEAR STACY: I am a loyal fan of actress and singer Lainie Kazan, but I am curious: What about her personal life? Has she ever married? Any children? — Robert P., The Bronx, N.Y.
DEAR ROBERT: Kazan does indeed have a child — her daughter, singer and recording engineer Jennifer Bena — from her 1970s union with musical director Peter Daniels, which ended in divorce. Jennifer's daughter, 8-year-old Isabella Blue, is already a budding singer as well.
DEAR STACY: A friend tells me that the actor who played Valerie Harper's husband on "Rhoda" passed away recently. Is that so? I enjoyed watching him on that show. — Wendy R., Cleveland, Ohio
DEAR WENDY: David Groh died of kidney cancer this past February in Los Angeles. The Brooklyn, New York, actor, whose roles ranged from Broadway (including Neil Simon's "Chapter Two") to film (including "Get Shorty") and TV (including the soap "General Hospital") was 68 years old.
DEAR STACY: What became of Michelle Ryan after the cancellation of "Bionic Woman"? — Jeff F., Queens, N.Y.
DEAR JEFF: The sexy 24-year-old British actress returned home to London and went to work on the comedy miniseries "Mr. Eleven" — playing a teacher who is determined to marry her 11th lover. Perhaps it will air on BBC America, but it's not scheduled as of this writing. Ryan also did a cameo in the BBC drama, "Merlin."
DEAR STACY: Is the complete "Highway to Heaven" series starring Michael Landon and Victor French available on DVD? If so, how can I order the set? — Paul G., New York, N.Y.
DEAR PAUL: A&E Home Video put out the first three seasons of the old Michael Landon series — about a probationary angel sent to earth to help people — in 2005 and 2006. However, there's no word on when, or if, seasons four and five will be put out on DVD for the north American region. Transfers from other regions are available, but beware poor quality products from obscure companies with no clearly delineated return policies.
