Mario Lopez, who's coming off his recent split with Karina Smirnoff, tells us he's too busy to think about a serious relationship these days.

"I won't be settling down any time soon. I don't have time. I can barely take care of myself," says Lopez on the set of MTV's "America's Best Dance Crew," which he is hosting while also starring in "A Chorus Line" on Broadway."

Already the actor/host and notorious ladies' man has been rumored to be going out with an actress from the national touring production of "A Chorus Line," but he claims it is work that has all of his attention. "I don't have a social life, but I figure I'll have time for that later. I'm not a woman with a biological clock, fortunately, so it's not like I have to worry about kids right now. I have a lot of family that I love, and I live vicariously through my sisters, who have kids." As for how he left things with Smirnoff, he says they are on good terms. "Yeah, we're totally friends."

Despite his busy schedule, Lopez has had time to keep up with good pal Eva Longoria, who made a surprise appearance on the set of the MTV show to see him. A camera-shy Longoria, dressed in a long, loose-fitting pink terry cloth dress, seemed embarrassed when Lopez pulled her out in front of the audience to be filmed by the MTV crews. He certainly seemed much more in his element now that the show is sitting comfortably in its second season.

"I love this show because a lot of these kids are former inner-city kids. I'm a former inner-city kid myself. It's very gritty," notes the ever-buff Mario, who rose to fame on "Saved By the Bell." He adds, "I was concerned coming back so quick that we'd have the same level of talent, but I think it's even better. It's more competitive this season."

NOT EASY TO BE HARD: Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly made playing mean a challenge for Adam Scott. The actor, of HBO's "Tell Me You Love Me" series fame, plays Farrell's younger brother in the big-screen comedy, opening Friday (7/25), in which Ferrell and Reilly play two grown men who still live at home being taken care of by their parents — and who become step-brothers when their mom and dad wed. "I play Will's younger brother, Derek, who's uber successful, and I want everyone to know just how successful I am. He's a really terrible person," says Scott. "All I do is ridicule Will and John, and as actors, of course, they welcomed it. But they're such amazing actors that when I'd say something awful to them, I'd look in their eyes and see real hurt there, like I was really hurting their feelings. It was hard not to feel guilty."

Scott says that Ferrell and Reilly "wrote an incredible script, but they encouraged a lot of improvisation, too. To come up with things that they liked and used in the movie was incredibly flattering."

THE BIG-SCREEN SCENE: "Smallville" superhero Laura Vandervoort proudly reports, "I have a brand-new skill on my resume." The actress, who plays Supergirl on the CW series, plays a diving instructor in the just wrapped "Into the Blue 2: The Reef." "None of us had scuba dived before, and they needed the main characters to get certified. We were all excited, and once we got to Hawaii, you couldn't get us out of the water. I love it, though I don't know when I'm going to get the chance to do it again."

Vandervoort stars in the sequel to the 2005 film "Into the Blue" with Chris Carmack and Audrina Patridge. She says as the Hawaii location shoot turned out, most of the actors "only had to do the last three or four days in the water. I had a lot of night swims in the ocean, and I was more worried about sharks. But I was told the sharks were really shy, they just wanted to get to know you. I trusted all the water guys in Hawaii. I've never seen a shark, so I put my life in their hands. They thought it (her fear) was funny. They said, 'They're man eaters, not woman eaters.'" Obviously she's never seen "Jaws."

MOVIE CLIPS: Michael Lembeck is prepping for a September start in Vancouver with "The Tooth Fairy." The comedy has to do with a hockey player dubbed The Tooth Fairy due to his aptitude for causing dental demolition to his opponents — and how he gets the opportunity to become … the real tooth fairy.

Also in pre-production, "Trail of Tears," which is not a historical film, but is hoped to be a horrifying one. The plot has young people on a hiking trip stumbling onto a Native American burial ground.
