Eco-Sex

Greenies everywhere have been reducing the carbon footprint of their lives, and now with Stefanie Iris Weiss' book, "Eco-Sex," they can also reduce the carbon footprint of their love lives. Lovemaking itself requires little in the way of natural resources (maybe heavy breathing uses some extra oxygen), but the handbook gives a "greenover" to all the attending courtship activity.

What about those Valentine roses you sent — how many carbon miles were expended to ship them from Central America? Did you know you can get hand-cranked sex toys? Have you heard about green dating sites and eco-friendly underwear?

Weiss believes that examining ALL of our habits, even the most intimate ones, is important.

She offers some serious population advice: "The No. 1 thing people can do to be an eco-sexual is to have fewer kids or have none at all." So, what's her suggestion for the perfect first date? A bike ride.
