In 1985, Greenland gave up its membership card in a dispute over fishing rights, which is rather remarkable, since Greenland is essentially part of Denmark, which remains a member. Paul Giamatti is an acclaimed actor. But his father was famous, as well. He was Bart Giamatti, the baseball commissioner. The elder Giamatti had been president of Yale, where he was known for being tough with the union. This impressed the baseball honchos, but Bart Giammati died of a heart attack just six months into his term, and only eight days after banishing Pete Rose from baseball.
