Amber Tamblyn, who played Emily on "General Hospital" for six years, has landed the role of Charlie's long-lost lesbian daughter on "Two and a Half Men." She is set for five episodes and perhaps even more.
Tamblyn starred in the critically acclaimed prime-time show "Joan of Arcadia" and the movie "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants." One "GH" cast-mate remembers her as talented and precocious: "One day, we were doing a scene where I had to give her CPR. Half the day she kept telling me: 'I can't wait until that scene. I am going to give you a really sloppy kiss and put my hands all over you."
She was 12 at the time, and the actor was 24. "I kept my teeth clenched" for the entire scenes."
Years ago, I interview Tamblyn's actor dad, Russ. He had a starring role in the film "West Side Story" and many others. He was a child actor. "I do not think kids should act," he said. "It is the one profession that children can participate in. If a 10-year-old kid tells his parents he wants to be a fireman, they would respond, 'You need to finish school and then see if you still want to be a fireman.'"
Amber was 11 when she joined "GH." Perhaps in Los Angeles 11 is the age of reason.
The oh-so-talented actor Greg Rikaart (Kevin on "Young and Restless") makes a guest appearance on "Bones" on Sept.
Right after the Supreme Court ruling on the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act, Rikaart tweeted a photo of himself and his longtime companion. Rikaart says he was not getting married "anytime soon," but, "I am delighted about the changing of the law."
Until that post, he did not talk about his romantic life.
If you are wondering where Drake Hogestyn (John) has been on "Days of our Lives," he's not under contract. The actor is now recurring and will appear on the show from time to time. Ken Corday, the show's executive producer, is not certain when the actor, who is part of the super soap couple "John and Marlena," will be back on a regular basis.
Aug. 16 starts Genoa City's "goodbye" to their Duchess. Jeanne Cooper, who played Katherine for 40 years, died earlier this year after struggling with pulmonary disease. After everyone tries to deal with their grief, it turns to greed. Everyone wants a piece of her money and her mansion.
Josh Griffith, the show's head writer, told "Entertainment Weekly," Jeanne would love that her death was going to move a story forward.
Several family and friends who have left the show will return for the memorial.
