LYNDA HIRSCH ON SOAPS -- GOSSIPCrystal Chappell (Carly, "Days of Our Lives") Web series, "Venice,: debuted Dec. 4. After the first free airing, viewers will have to pay $9.98 to watch the rest of the series. Kimberly Matula has been cast in the role of "Bold and Beautiful's" Hope, now a teenager. The daughter of Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Deacon (Sean Kanan, who is now playing the bad boy on "Young and Restless"), the older Hope will debut Jan. 11. Explains Executive Producer/Head Writer Bradley Bell, "Aging the character of Hope to a teenager allows us to bring the next generation of Logans to the forefront, as well as play a broader range of the Forrester vs. Logan story." Kanan may be heading back to "B&B." Set siders say Kanan has wrapped his current "Y&R" stay. SoapNet has added an extra airing of "Days of Our Lives" to its lineup. "Days" will now air at 6 p.m. (ET/ PT). SoapNet already airs "Days" at 11 p.m. (ET/PT). On Dec. 11, "The View" will air a special-edition episode called "AMC: Moving Pine Valley." According to an ABC statement: "As the popular daytime drama relocates to Los Angeles to continue its tradition of dazzling audiences with 40 years of groundbreaking storytelling, The View pays tribute with a one-hour celebration featuring the show's creator and television pioneer, Agnes Nixon, plus stars Susan Lucci, Debbi Morgan, Rebecca Budig, Cameron Mathison, Michael E.
Greenlee comes back to life on "All My Children" Dec 23. Alicia Minshew (Kendall) came back from maternity leave to tape the "Zach and Kendall go off into the sunset" story. At this point ABC will not say if Minshew will be doing any taping on AMC when it moves to L.A. With Bianca not returning, it appears that Erica is taking Madison under her wing. Also heading under Erica's wing is Jackson (Walt Willey). You may recall that in August, Jackson suddenly decided to go to Europe. He did not even send a postcard. Now with his daughter back from the dead, he returns home. No word on how long he will be around. Hopefully, "AMC" will wrap up the Ryan/Erica plot. Willey has been very discreet about his quick "AMC" exit. No moaning, groaning or complaining. How refreshing. Stephen Markle (Mel, "One Life to Live") is slated to return. Since Mel is presumed dead, perhaps he is making a visit of conscience to Dorian. Or, maybe he's back from the dead. No one at "OLTL" is talking.
