LYNDA HIRSCH ON SOAPS--GOSSIPThis week is all about homecomings and some goings. As previously announced, Jonathan Jackson returns to the daytime drama "General Hospital" in the role of Lucky Spencer — son of super couple Luke and Laura — which he created as a teenager. Now his first airdate has been revealed: It is Tuesday, Oct. 27. "We are very excited to welcome Jonathan back to Port Charles," says Executive Producer Jill Farren Phelps. "His return will be sure to captivate the audience and be pivotal to this ongoing love story between some of the show's most popular characters." In the story line, Lucky wants his former wife, Elizabeth, to remarry him, but unbeknownst to him, Elizabeth has strong feelings for Lucky's brother, Nikolas. When Luke finds out what's going on between Elizabeth and Nikolas, will he tell Lucky the truth? As for Greg Vaughn, who was let go after six years of playing Lucky, he has already been on a few auditions. "All My Children" turns 40 come next January. This means I turn … never mind. To celebrate the anniversary, one of the show's most popular couples, Haley (Kelly Ripa) and Mateo (her real-life husband, Mark Consuelos) will make a visit home. The couple left the show in 2002 when Ripa was named co-host for Regis Philbin's talk show. Since then, Haley and Mateo have been mentioned but have never visited.
It appears Rebecca Budig is not only going home again to "AMC," but when it switches its home from New York to Los Angeles, she will be staying on the show for a while, as it is a contract role. There is no word on the contract length. "AMC" head writer Chuck Pratt Jr. says he always wrote for the eventuality that Budig would return. Remember in the visit to the morgue Aidan had a stunned look when he saw the corpse. Lately, it appeared as if David was hiding a very much alive Greenlee, who was in the care of Nurse Gail. Forget that Internet nonsense that "AMC" moved to L.A. just so they could snag a return from Budig. Where do people get this stuff, in bad fortune cookies? Brianne Moncrieff is not heading to L.A. in the "AMC" move, but her Colby character will still be front and center in the story. Cady McClain's run as "As the World Turns'" Rosanna is ending next month. Too bad her return coincided with Maura West's (Carly) maternity leave. It would have been great to see them share lots more airtime. With McClain leaving "ATWT," there are rumors she may head back to "AMC." We know Dixie is dead, but there could always be a heavenly visit. Maybe Dixie could have a look alike that is her polar personality opposite.
