Eric Roberts will be spending a month in Genoa City this summer. The actor has signed on for a short-term role on "Young and Restless." It will not be his first soap opera stint — his first major acting gig was on "Another World." He played Ted Bancroft, a spoiled rich kid. During his run on the show, Roberts was involved in a near-fatal car accident, which changed his facial appearance. While Roberts did sign a contract with "AW," his sister Julia auditioned, but did not get a part. For several years, the brother and sister were estranged. In the past few years, they have reconciled.

John Stamos, who got his acting start on daytime, just landed a nighttime spot on the hit "Glee." Stamos will play a heartthrob who has a heady effect on several of the women on the show. The men on the show will have issues with him. On "General Hospital," Stamos played Blackie Parrish, a streetwise kid who became the ward of Leslie and Rick Webber. The one-time hoodlum became a good guy after he met Lou, the love of his young life. Sadly, Lou was murdered. Even sadder, Blackie was convicted of the crime. As far as anyone knows, some 20 years later, Blackie is still in prison for a crime he did not commit. That, of course, is in contrast to Sonny, who is a killing machine and has not spent a day in jail for his crimes. As for Stamos, at a young age, he showed how mature he could be. Many times during his stay at "GH," he visited hospitals to talk to ailing kids. At the time, "GH" was the hottest show on the air — daytime or nighttime.

A visit from Stamos was a guaranteed shot in the arm.

With his "Young and Restless" stint over, David Hasselhoff has a new job. According to the Hoff, he was asked to stay on "Y&R" a bit longer, but he decided not to. His next nighttime assignment is a roast on "Comedy Central." The actor says he always loved to watch the Dean Martin roasts so he is ready for this. Actually, the Dean Martin roasts were sweet, gentle sometimes ribald kiddings. A "Comedy Central" roast is akin to tossing a person into a lion's den. The first time I interviewed Hasselhoff, he was staring in "Knight Rider." The first thing he said in the interview was that he was "a big star in Germany. All my records sell like crazy there." He followed that up with talking about his acting skills. "People laugh, but it is very hard to act with a car. I have to be good, or it would not work." Of course, he did not mention that the voice of KITT he Car was William Daniels one of the best actors who ever lived.

"Bold and Beautiful's" Jennifer Gareis (Donna) and her husband, Bobby Ghassemieh, welcomed a son on June 11 at 7:33 p.m. The boy weighed in at 9 pounds, 8 ounces and is 22 inches long. (Why is it other than the name — the parents are still deciding — does everyone want to know the weight and length of a newborn?) "Mommy and baby are both happy and healthy," says a spokesperson for the show.

More news on "American Idol's" Jason Castro appearing on "B&B": The newly married singer with the dreadlocks will perform his new single, "Love Uncompromised." He will do his crooning in a scene with young lovers Oliver and Hope.
