The Aquarius moon sets our sites on the future. Maybe it's an idealized version of tomorrow. Then again, no one will know until it's upon us. Better to be too optimistic than to have a low expectation that becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. It's the eve of the spiritual Pisces new moon and the perfect opportunity to let go of yesterday and cling to hope.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). Your eyes and heart will be wide open. In some small, tangible and immensely satisfying way, you'll understand the difference you've made in other people's lives.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). Your happiness depends to some degree on the amount of control you believe you have over your environment. How much control you actually have isn't nearly as relevant as the amount you believe you have.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). You have only so much attention to give others and still take stellar care of yourself. It will be necessary to pick your battles and to allow others to take care of their own responsibilities.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). You are not a product of your circumstances, though you certainly are choosing some challenging and influential environments to hang out in. You are bigger than the moment, and you'll find a way to prove that.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). Boldness is one of your talents. One thing that helps on the subject of boldness is not to take things too seriously. It is much easier to be bold when you see the lions as the kitty cats they really are.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). Some people are just earnest. You'll appreciate that and share in the stark honesty of it. This is your preferred mode, as well. You'll be sure to relate in a way that is true to who you are.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). People repeat patterns because it feels natural to do so. It may not, however, be the healthiest way. You'll be brave enough to perform a "pattern interrupt," thereby changing the course of history.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). You'll be attracted to just the people who will shine a light on a different side of you, a side you did not even know existed before. The new vista of insight will bring pure delight.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). Don't be shy. If you feel shy, take it as a sign that you're being challenged to buck your fear. Do the opposite action to the one you feel like doing. Go over and introduce yourself.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). Not only are you doing the best you can; you're doing the best that has been done by anyone who recently applied themselves to the task.

So don't undervalue your contribution.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). You'll broaden your horizons in a small but significant way. You will have a feeling about what you're good at, and you'll follow that feeling into a particular area of interest.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Remember that you're a dancer. So when the chance comes to dance (and it's there every day, you just have to recognize it), you need to take hold of the other person's hand and dance.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (Feb. 20). Because you always keep your end of a bargain, you gain a stellar reputation this year. You can take that to the bank in March, June and October. Save for future renovations. Extroverted energy helps your personal and professional life in May. A lucky conversation leads to a once in a lifetime opportunity. Leo and Capricorn people adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 5, 39, 25, 12 and 40.

FRIENDSHIP TIPS FROM THE STARS: Friends are one of the true measures of wealth in this lifetime. When relationships are going well, it's easy to take friendship for granted. Keep your relationship skills sharp and your friendships strong with these tips from the stars.

SAGITTARIUS: Tune in. Your moods are like weather. Everyone can look at the sky, feel the temperature and know whether to put on sunscreen or galoshes. So it's a little surprising to you to discover how craftily some people can hide what's going on with them. Why would someone smile when they want to cry, or stifle laughter or enthusiasm just to appear cool? Well, they do. So your job is to become more sensitive to how your friends are feeling and check in often with them on an emotional level.

CAPRICORN: Put it on the books. Capricorn's busy life includes work, extra work and plenty of preparation for more work. Then there's the work you do just to be able to work — for instance, housework and schoolwork. Well, it's endless. Friends are a necessity. They break up your routine and keep you from becoming boring, strange or ill. Put your friends on the schedule just like they were one of your other important appointments, and keep those meetings sacred.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: Pisces pop star Rihanna was born when the moon, Venus and Jupiter were all in the passionate warrior sign of Aries. This energetic blend of old soul and young passion infuses her music with mass appeal. The Barbados-born pop star is one of the best-selling artists of all time. Saturn, Uranus and Neptune in Capricorn show business savvy and career longevity.
