Romantic Movie with Hubby Would Be 'Too Weird' for Tia Mowry/Surf-Loving Stars Unite at Surf-Athon Event To Help Gulf

Don't expect to see Tia Mowry and her real-life mate, handsome actor Cory Hardrict, in a romantic movie together. Ever. "The Game" star recoils at the very thought.

"I wouldn't want to have an on-camera relationship with my husband — kissing and stuff. It's too private. It's just kind of too weird," she says, laughing. "We have worked together in the past. We met on 'Hollywood Horror,' and he guest-starred on 'The Game.' We could work behind the scenes, for sure, or on-camera, as long as the characters' relationship is anything but romantic. That would be awesome."

Tia was, however, "able to take a little bit from my wedding and what I was feeling and experiencing and apply it" — in the making of her and sister Tamera's new Lifetime movie, "Double Wedding," debuting Sunday (6/20).

Tia and Tamera cooked up the romantic comedy that has them vying for the same guy (British hottie O.T. Fagbenle) — and produced it themselves. Notes Tia, "We've been in this business a very long time, and we realized we needed to start our own production company, like Ashton Kutcher, Drew Barrymore and Reese Witherspoon. Being a woman in this business, sometimes the roles become limited as you go along, so we wanted to create our own opportunities."

Tamera — who's not married, but in a relationship, by the way — says that it was their mother who advised them to go out to lunch and not return until they had created a list of good ideas. "We both wanted to do a romantic comedy," she says.

"There aren't a lot of vehicles out there for African-American women to portray such characters," adds Tia. "We came up with this idea and pitched it to Lifetime, and they loved it."

Tamera says, "I've found a new niche behind the camera. I'm a very creative person, and to be able to take an idea and bring it full circle into a completed movie — it's an amazing, amazing event for me. It's the happiest I've ever been in my life."

The twins now have several other projects in the works, including a pilot they just produced for the Style network.

SURF CITY, HERE THEY COME: "Hollywood Dreams" star Tanna Frederick reports that Gregory Harrison will be among the hard-core surfers riding the waves in the "graveyard shift" tomorrow (6/19) night at Huntington Beach, Calif., during the Third Annual Project SOS: Surf 24.

Other famous surf-loving dudes and dudettes involved include "True Blood's" Sam Trammell, "House's" Jesse Spencer, "24's" Eric Balfour, Zoe Bell of "Grindhouse," one-time "Baywatch" hunk David Chokachi, Sean Patrick Flanery, Chad Lowe and Frederick herself.

The flame-tressed beauty tells us the event "has turned into something I never dreamed could possibly happen. This year, in light of the situation in the Gulf, it's especially inspiring and hopeful."

Heal the Bay, Inside the Outdoors and the Surfrider Foundation are beneficiaries of the fundraiser. Frederick says, "We're going to be announcing our next project, the Save Our Surf Gulf Alert, going down to the Gulf and volunteering — a grassroots, hands-on activity to create change." Frederick says she and her co-founders, surfing champs Shaun Tomson and PT Townend, aimed to "take the artistic element brought in by Hollywood and the surf culture of Huntington Beach, toss them together and see what colors we get" when they started the event. It's grown exponentially since then. The centerpiece is its 24-hour surf-athon with pros and amateurs being judged by a panel before a crowd of thousands. The pier will be lit up all through the night. There's an eco-ocean fair. The surfer hangout Duke's is staying open overnight to accommodate visitors. There's also a screening of the classic surf movie "North Shore," and, she reports, "The cast and crew is coming — Nia Peeples, John Philbin, Randall Kleiser..."

Judd Nelson is being presented with a new award, named in honor of the late Dennis Hopper, who "quietly was a huge supporter of ours."

THAT'S HARSH: And you thought not getting a rose was tough. Things are getting meaner out there in the reality TV world. A pilot is being prepped now for an ABC show in which the losing contestants will be ejected — literally. As in catapults, human cannonballs and parachute drops of poor contestants who, according to casting notices, "don't know they've lost 'til they're flying along..."

THEY'RE BAAAAACK: A September start date has been set for Craig Gillespie's remake of the 1985 horror hit "Fright Night," with shooting planned for New Mexico. At the same time, Wes Craven is getting ready to begin production on "Scream 4" with his young stars Emma Roberts, Rory Culkin and Hayden Panettiere.
