RELEASE: SATURDAY, JULY 30-31, 2011DEAR STACY: Can you give some background on Dog the Bounty Hunter, like how he became a bounty hunter, etc.? — John P., Orlando, Fla. DEAR JOHN: Duane 'Dog" Chapman was raised in Denver, Colo., by his mother, who was a minister, and his father, who reportedly was verbally and physically abusive. Chapman joined a motorcycle gang. One of the gang members killed a drug dealer. Chapman was found to be complicit in the crime and wound up serving two years in prison. He married, sired two sons with and divorced a woman named La Fonda Sue Honeycutt. He owed money for child support, and the judge in charge of handling the case asked Chapman to catch a fugitive for $200, thus launching his bounty-hunting career. He moved to Hawaii where he opened a bail bonding company. In 2003, he illegally crossed the Mexican border to capture heir to Max Factor cosmetics, Andrew Luster, who was convicted in absentia of poisoning and rape. The capture made Chapman famous and led to his A&E TV show. He wed fifth wife Beth Smith in 2006, 16 years into their relationship, and is the acknowledged father of 12.

This year, his activities have included the off-Broadway show "Sold" and staged readings of "Torch Song Trilogy" and "June Moon." DEAR STACY: Has Tyra Banks ever been married? — J.J., Oakland, Calif. DEAR J.J.: No. The supermodel cum producer has had some high-profile relationships (Seal, John Singleton) in the past, but has never wed. DEAR STACY: Please settle a bet. I say it is Sam Elliott's voice in the Dodge Ram commercials. My friend disagrees. — E.F., Allentown, Penn. DEAR E.F.: You're correct. Elliott started lending his deep, all-American voice to Ram truck commercials last year.
