Hollywood Star Debut a Quick Break for Busy Stiller & Meara/ Collins & Castmates Wonder If It's (Finally) OverJerry Stiller and Anne Meara are getting ready for the unveiling of their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame tomorrow (2/9) — with their offspring, Ben and Amy, and other family members expected to be on hand, along with past and present castmates like Jason Alexander, and "I've invited all my doctors," reports Jerry, "and I have four dentists I've invited as well." The 79-year-old performer and the lady he asked to pick up the check for their first cup of coffee together some 53 years ago — who went on to become his wife, mother of his children and partner in one of America's great comedy duos — aren't pausing long for their honors. Both are too busy working. Jerry, who recently wrapped his role as Mr. Pinky in the John Travolta film "Hairspray," has the final set of episodes of "King of Queens" to make with Kevin James and Leah Remini. For his final story arc, "They're supposed to be bringing in a Hollywood star, who'll be coming down to the senior citizens' club" that's frequented by his Arthur Spooner character, he says. "I don't know who that person is going to be. There's a reunion, maybe a love affair," he says. "We just did an episode with Adam Sandler that's very funny," he adds. "I don't know when that will air. There may be a spin-off for Gary (Valentine), Patton (Oswalt) and Victor (Williams) in it." Anne, meanwhile, has a Comedy Central pilot of her own in the works. As for Internet reports about a supposed Stiller family film project — "I haven't heard anything," says Stiller. "I wouldn't foist that on the public." There was, however, talk of him and Anne doing a reality show. "The idea was us trying to come into homes and settle problems with marriages," he says. "We talked about it, and then said, 'Wait a minute! We'd have to go all over the country and settle marriages? Nobody's an expert on marriage. How dare us?'" You can take that as a "no." THE VIDEOLAND VIEW: The "7th Heaven" cast and crew were relieved to be brought back from cancellation last year, but star Stephen Collins tells us they're not so sure of their fate once this season is over. "We're four episodes away from the end of the season and we don't know if we're coming back for a 12th season or not.
Right now, Collins says everyone is trying to remain optimistic, though some can't help but be sentimental about the possible end. "It will probably creep up the last episode, assuming we don't know about next season. You're always torn. Last year we were officially cancelled and the last day I tried to say goodbye to the crew and they were like, 'No. We're coming back,' and we did. I know we have incredibly devoted fans, so we'll see." I SAID SPOOKY, YEAH, YEAH: Things are going to get real spooky in an upcoming special episode of "Psych," says star James Roday, who co-wrote the segment with the show's exec producer/creator, Steve Franks. "We sort of went the route of slumber party massacre," says Roday of the segment, airing March 2, titled "Scary Sherry: Bianca's Toast." "There's a sorority involved, and somebody's up to no good and its bad news for the sorority girls." Roday adds that when esteemed filmmaker John Landis came aboard to direct the episode, "It was a dream come true for me because 'American Werewolf in London' is one of my favorite movies of all time. And 'The Blues Brothers' and 'Animal House' are two of Steve's favorite movies of all time." IT'S FRAHN-KEN-STEEN: Casting has begun for Mel Brooks' highly anticipated Broadway-bound musical version of "Young Frankenstein" — with plans for rehearsals to get underway in June for a summer out-of-town tryout and fall unveiling on the Great White Way. And what a tall talent order they've got to fill! According to casting sources, what Brooks and director/choreographer Susan Stroman have in mind for the title character is a comic actor with both Danny Kaye-style energy and Fred Astaire-like elegance, who'll also be able to sing in a baritone that "seems flat." They envision Igor (that's EYE-gore!), his assistant, to be a combo of Jimmy Durante and a British music hall singer. Housekeeper-plus Frau Blucher — who was recreated by the film's Cloris Leachman herself in the "Young Frankenstein" workshop conducted last year — will be a Lotte Lenya-style dark alto singer capable of evoking the feel of a Berlin cabaret of the 1920s and '30s. And then of course there's the monster, a bass-baritone who'll deliver "Puttin' on the Ritz" in his own special way.
