Heidi Klum, Seal: Bigger Family, Bigger Challenges/Perez Doesn't Care About Multiple EnemiesSupermodel mogul Heidi Klum admits it's getting to be a bigger and bigger challenge to move her family from place to place to accommodate the demands of her hectic career and husband Seal's — particularly when he jets from one foreign land to another to fulfill concert dates. When her eldest, 3-year-old Leni, was an only child, "she went with us on a beautiful tour through Europe," explains Klum. "But now with Henry, who's 2, and Johan having his first birthday Nov. 22, it becomes more difficult." During the five weeks of production on her newest season of "Project Runway," which kicks off Wednesday (Nov. 14), Heidi, Seal and the children headquartered in New York. She notes, "We have an apartment in Manhattan. It helps to keep the family together." She tells us that the new season features "some great guest judges — that I want to keep a secret because it's so much fun to watch the competing designers' faces when they learn who the judges are." Actually, it's the audience that she wants to keep guessing — because the show was shot and has been in the can since May. JUST YOUTUBE-AND-ME MEDIA: Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton claims not to care if he's making enemies by being so biting on his Web site — the place where many of America's youth go to find out about the misadventures of Perez's "favorite" celebrities, like Britney Spears, whom he has dubbed Unfitney. He says if people want to get to know the real Perez — er, Mario Lavendeira — they'll have to dig a little deeper. Of course, "deeper" meaning "YouTube." "Some love my blog, and some hate it. The ones who hate it really, really hate it. Some may not even want to acknowledge my existence, but I don't really care if people don't like me. People don't really know me," he claims. "I do try to be biting, but I don't want to draw blood. It's a fine line I walk." He continues, "I recently started video blogging on YouTube. That's a fun, new way for my readers to get to know the real me. You don't really get a true sense of someone's personality by just reading their thoughts on celebrity news. I don't talk about myself that much on the Web site.
THE PERSONAL TRACK: Jenna von Oy says she made her country/pop debut album, "Breathing Room" painfully personal — at the urging of a good friend. "She said, 'Promise me you'll write the words you need to say, the stuff that is so close to you that it hurts to write it and not the words you think people want to hear,' and that propelled the whole experience for me," says the former "The Parkers" regular. "I'm so much prouder of this album in retrospect. Every song on it has something I've been through. … It's incredibly cathartic." Von Oy, who has relocated to Nashville, says she "recently had a completely different kind of catharsis when I got up in front of 200 of my friends and peers and press and did my first live show. I didn't even tell anyone it was my first time playing with a band because I just wanted to go up there and have a good time." She says she knew she had a crowd pleaser when one of those peers said, "I respect you as an actress, but I might respect you even more as a singer and an artist." Von Oy says, "It was so neat." She adds her acting "is somewhat on a back burner now, but I don't think I could entirely give it up. I'm putting the focus of my energy into my music at the moment, but I'm hoping the two will cross paths." "Breathing Room" is available on iTunes, CD Baby and at www.jennavonoy.com. FROM THE INSIDE LOOKING OUT: Currently traveling the world for National Geographic, TV journalist Lisa Ling admits it's hard not to feel unsafe at times when reporting on controversial topics. "Certainly there are times when things have happened, and you become a little nervous, but I really feel pretty lucky to be able to do these kinds of stories," says Ling, who has traveled to such places as Thailand and India to do segments on topics like crystal meth and child prostitution. "In countries that are more sort of male dominated, there are often times where my voice is disregarded, but it's those times when I push even harder and louder. I think that people — as unfamiliar as we are with people around the world, they are as unfamiliar with us — and sometimes it just takes a personal interaction, and it changes minds. That's what I love about what I do." With reports by Stephanie DuBois and Emily Fortune Feimster.
