DEAR STACY: Whatever became of Arnold Vosloo, who played Imhotep in "The Mummy" and its sequel? Did he ever make other movies? — Greg B.,

Chattanooga, Tenn.

DEAR GREG: Perhaps you don't recognize him wearing shirts and with his hair grown out. Vosloo has a long credit sheet, including the 2006 Leonardo DiCaprio thriller "Blood Diamond," 2009's "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra," and television roles in such fare as "Charmed," "Alias," and "24" (for which he played terrorist leader Habib Marwan in 2005).

The South African-American actor, whose mother and father were both stage actors, began his career on stage in his native land in plays ranging from "Hamlet" to "Torch Song Trilogy." He became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1988. He and his wife, Sylvia, are spokespersons for the International Fund for Animal Welfare.

DEAR STACY: Where did Death Cab for Cutie get its name? — Lucas T., San Antonio, Texas

DEAR LUCAS: The band picked up its crazy moniker from a 1967 spoof song, done in a faux Elvis Presley-style, that tells the tragic tale of the singer's gal, "Cutie," going out for a night on the town against his wishes: Cutie's riding in a taxi.

The taxi crashes. Cutie dies.

The song was composed by Vivian Stanshall and Neil Innes and performed by Stanshall and the Bonzo Dog Band. It's also featured in the Beatles' "Magical Mystery Tour" movie.

DEAR STACY: The other night, we watched the old TV movie "The Pirates of Silicon Valley" with Noah Wyle and Anthony Michael Hall as Steve Jobs and Bill Gates, respectively. The copy we viewed did not have credits. I say Steve Jobs' girlfriend was played by a young Marg Helgenberger. My boyfriend says I'm wrong. Can you give us an answer? — Kim M., Cedar Rapids, Iowa

DEAR KIM: That was Canadian actress Gema Zamprogna, whose other credits include "Sue Thomas: F.B. Eye" and the 1990-1996 series, "Avonlea," in which she played Felicity King.

DEAR STACY: Whatever happened to the actor who played Nick Reardon on the original "Melrose Place"? — Cheryl W., Oakland, Calif.

DEAR CHERYL: Scott Plank, who also appeared on Lifetime's "The Division," among other shows, died of injuries sustained in a car accident in October 2002. He was 44 years old.
