Ask Stacy - Week of Saturday, May 15DEAR STACY: A friend at work told me that Brandon Cruz, who I remember as the adorable little Eddie in "The Courtship of Eddie's Father," had grown up to become the lead singer of a punk band known as the Dead Kennedys. Is she putting me on, or is there any truth to this? — Linda G., Bellflower, Calif. DEAR LINDA: Yes, there is truth to it, although Cruz wrapped up his stint as the Dead Kennedys' front man in 2003 and returned to the California punk band Dr. Know, which is currently readying a European tour and writing songs for its next album, planned for 2011 release. The band's last album was called "Killing for God." DEAR STACY: What is Helen Hunt up to? Any chance of her returning to series work? — M.S., Las Vegas DEAR M.S.: Hunt is playing the mother of courageous surfing champ Bethany Hamilton (AnnaSophia Robb) in "Soul Surfer," the movie about the teen's comeback after losing an arm in a shark attack. It's due in the fall. I doubt you'll see Hunt back in series work any time soon, as she told me she's happy to be extra selective and do a limited amount of work nowadays since she's busy at home with daughter Makena, who just turned 6 this month. DEAR STACY: Whatever became of Scott Bairstow since the child rape case? — Julie A., Canton, Ohio DEAR JULIE: The one-time heartthrob, whose credits include "Party of Five" and "Tuck Everlasting," was heard in a taped phone conversation with his 12-year-old accuser that if she told about their "big secret," it would destroy his life.
DEAR STACY: Please give an update on the "Gilligan's Island" feature film. — Tim G., Whitefish Bay, Wis. DEAR TIM: Since the deal was just set this past March, there's not much to tell as yet except that Warner Bros. has it in development, and that "Gilligan's" creator, Sherwood Schwartz, would like to see Michael Cera as the title goofball, and Beyonce as Ginger the movie star. DEAR STACY: Is "Warehouse 13" coming back or canceled? Crazy show, I like it. — Geoff M., Bronx, N.Y. DEAR GEOFF: "Warehouse 13," which boasts the highest-rated episodes in SyFy history, is due to return in July.
