Ask Stacy -- Week of October 29It's almost Halloween, and in keeping with the scary, magical, topsy-turvy nature of the holiday, we're turning the tables and asking you the questions this time! See how you fare in this Halloween Hollywood quiz ... 1. Which recent biographical feature was reportedly visited by the ghost of its title subject during production? (Hint: The supernatural event supposedly occurred at a San Francisco storefront.) 2. Which music superstar used to have a pet python he named Crusher? 3. Kate Bosworth, Kiefer Sutherland, Mila Kunis and Christopher Walken share the same striking, unusual physical trait. What is it? 4. The tale of a young lawyer who becomes haunted by the ghost of a scorned woman looking for revenge is coming to the big screen in 2012. It stars a thespian already known for otherworldly movies. Who? 5. Princess time. Which top American female comedian is a distant relative of the Duchess of Cambridge, a.k.a. Kate Middleton? 6. Name the director and horror classic he is talking about in this quote: "There were a great many unusual occurrences that I experienced during the making of this film that I had never experienced before and hope to never experience again. For example, one morning the set burned to the ground with no one in the studio, causing us to shut down for two months and rebuild the set. To this day, there is no explanation for why this occurred." 7. Which TV series cast claimed to have frequent brushes with ghosts — really? 8. Name at least two of the three purported Hollywood haunts of Marilyn Monroe's ghost. Answers: 1. In 2008, filmmaker Gus Van Sant caused a stir when he matter-of-factly noted that the spirit of slain San Francisco Supervisor Harvey Milk might have come in to check out filming of "Milk" while the team on the Sean Penn starrer was working in the storefront that once housed the camera shop owned by the gay rights leader. "During a shot at night there was a take where we were using most of the room, and there were three or four actors in the scene." Van Sant was quoted as saying. "Some people were sitting on the sofa, which was outside of the shot, and during one of the takes, somebody walked in from outside and sat down on the sofa during the shot." The astonished actors described the man as looking like Harvey Milk.
2. Michael Jackson. 3. Heterochromia — different colored eyes. 4. "Harry Potter's" Daniel Radcliffe will be seen in "The Woman in Black." 5. According to the New England Historic Geneaological Society, Ellen DeGeneres and the future queen of England are 15th cousins. 6. The quote came from William Friedkin, who was speaking on the 25th anniversary of the release of "The Exorcist." Ellen Burstyn has described everyone on the movie getting spooked by strange on-set accidents and the death of a night watchman. Burstyn suffered a spinal injury while shooting, and Linda Blair injured her back when a piece of the rig broke as she was jostled on the bed. That, however, would seem to have had much more to do with the uniquely demanding physicality of making "The Exorcist" than with anything supernatural. 7. Jennifer Love Hewitt and her former "Ghost Whisperer" cast mates have often discussed their spectral guest stars, so to speak. Jay Mohr insisted the haunting stories were true. "Absolutely, emphatically, yes. No doubt about it," he told us. "For example, we were in a house in Altadena (Calif.) that had belonged to a hoarder. Every room had things piled up to the ceiling. I was getting ready to do a scene, and there was a man behind me, coughing, but when I turned around, there was a desk. That's all. But when we started to shoot, the sound man kept having to stop us because he kept getting coughing. Little things like that happen pretty often. You watch footage and you see someone standing behind Love who wasn't there when we shot the scene. It happens over and over." 8. The spirit of Hollywood's best-known blond movie siren has reportedly been sighted at several locations, including in a mirror at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, at her crypt at the Westwood Memorial Cemetery and in the room where she died in a house in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Brentwood. Of course, local tour guides make the utmost of such stories. You can even take a Haunted Hearse dead-celebrity tour. How very Hollywood.
