DEAR STACY: Are Ryan Seacrest and Julianne Hough going to get married? Also, can you talk a bit about his background? Where's he from, how he got his start, etc.? —- Jana M., Whitefish Bay, Wis.

DEAR JANA: If Seacrest and Hough are thinking about marriage, they're not discussing it publicly at this point. Although the "Footloose" and "Dancing With the Stars" beauty and the "American Idol" and radio host are frequently snapped together by paparazzi, they've made it a habit to keep details of their relationship private.

Seacrest was born the day before Christmas in 1974. He hails from Atlanta, where he landed a job at radio station WSTR while still in high school — and continued with his on-air gig while attending the University of Georgia. He got his first TV show-hosting job — ESPN's "Radical Outdoor Challenge" — while still in college.

His fast upward trajectory continued when he moved to Los Angeles in 1995. Besides his on-air activities, Seacrest is turning into a mogul as a producer. His company puts out four incarnations of E!'s hit Kardashian franchise and seven other unscripted shows, and he's currently getting ready to produce a feature for and with Reese Witherspoon.

DEAR STACY: How fun to see Maura Tierney on "The Office." I remember she withdrew from "Parenthood" while battling cancer.

How is she now? — Lisa G., New York

DEAR LISA: Tierney has certainly been leading an energetic and apparently healthy life. The actress, who in 2009 underwent breast cancer treatment (including surgery), was back to work six months later in the satirical play "North Atlantic." She then went on to the short-lived legal series, "The Whole Truth." She credits her then-boyfriend with getting her to go to the doctor to get her condition checked out, and urges others not to wait if they have any symptoms.

DEAR STACY: I'd like to know how many children Regis Philbin has. — M.N., Tacoma, Wash.

DEAR M.N.: In addition to his two daughters, Joanna and Jennifer, with wife Joy, Regis has daughter Amy (born in 1961) and son Danny (born in 1967) from his first marriage to Catherine Faylen, from whom he split in 1968.

DEAR STACY: I read that Marin Hinkle of "Two and a Half Men" is from Tanzania. How did she wind up where she is? — H.C., Torrance, Calif.

DEAR H.C.: Hinkle's parents were working in the Peace Corps in Tanzania when she was born there — in Dar es Salaam, to be exact. The family then moved to Boston, where her mother, Margaret, became a justice of the Superior Court of Massachusetts, and her father, Rodney, a college dean and teacher. Impressive family!
