Ask Stacy - Week of February 26, 2011DEAR STACY: Whatever happened to Shelley Duvall? Haven't seen her in so long. — William S., Bakersfield, Calif. DEAR WILLIAM: The saucer-eyed actress of "Popeye," "The Shining," "Annie Hall" and many other films, in addition to her "Faerie Tale Theatre" and "Bedtime Stories" series, left Los Angeles after the 1994 Northridge earthquake and moved to Blanco, Texas, where she has been on a self-created career hiatus in recent years. She told Mondo Film & Video Guide last November that "I just took time out. I've been acting for over 35 years; it does take a lot out of you." She added that she now leads a quiet life with her animals and her poetry, but doesn't rule out a return to acting. "I still get a lot of scripts sent to me." She also rejects being labeled a recluse. Duvall's last credit was in the 2002 indie film, "Manna From Heaven." DEAR STACY: Who does the voiceover in those cute Ford Fiesta commercials with skydivers, unicyclists and balloons celebrating the push-button starter? He sounds familiar. — D.D., West Haven, Conn. DEAR D.D.: Denis Leary is the latest voice of Ford. DEAR STACY: Please give some information about David Denman. I like him in "Traffic Light." Wasn't he on "The Office"? — Sara L., New Port Richey, Fla. DEAR SARA: Yes, Denman played Roy Anderson, the ex-fiance of Pam Beesly on "The Office." He also is known to "Drop Dead Diva" viewers as Tony.
DEAR STACY: Watching "American Idol," we got curious: What's new with Justin Guarini? It looked like he was going to be so big and then, pfft! — Kayla K., Milwaukee DEAR KAYLA: Right now, things are looking pretty happy for Guarini. He got married to Reina Capodici in 2009 and made his Broadway debut as Carlos in the adaptation of "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown." He starts starring stints in Broadway's "American Idiot" on Tuesday (March 1), in the role of Will. The singer/musician/music education advocate had to come back from some setbacks after his first burst of fame, including the fact he was contractually prohibited from putting out an album until after "AI" winner Kelly Clarkson, which cost him some valuable momentum, and the fact he made the bad movie "From Justin to Kelly." Guarini is now also reportedly at work on his third album. COPYRIGHT 2011 MARILYN BECK AND STACY JENEL SMITH DISTRIBUTED BY CREATORS.COM
