Ask Stacy - Week of February 12, 2011DEAR STACY: I enjoy watching Guy Fieri on "Minute to Win It." Can you give some information about him? Is he married, kids? How did he go from the Food Network to doing a game show? — Nadia B., Redlands, Calif. DEAR NADIA: Here's how Fieri explains his leap from Food Network cook to game-show emcee: "My agent asked what were other things I might like to do that I wasn't doing, and I thought, 'Well, I'm a game-show fan. I love the way the hosts can interact with contestants.' And I said, 'I'd love to host a prime-time game show.' I didn't think anyone would take me seriously. But not only did they, they designed a show I feel I was born to do. It's perfect for me." Fieri, who has 14-year-old and 5-year-old sons with his wife, Lori, lives in Santa Rosa, Calif. He co-owns five California restaurants. A precocious businessman/budding restaurateur, he first started in the food game at age 10, with a three-wheeled cart from which he sold "Awesome Pretzels." They must have been awesome indeed, for he financed his study in France for his junior year in high school. He worked in restaurants throughout high school, and was district manager for the Louise's Trattoria chain in his early 20s.
DEAR STACY: I know on "19 Kids and Counting," Michelle Duggar says she delivered all those babies herself. We were wondering — there have to be multiples. Can you give details?" — Rory K., Chattanooga, Tenn. DEAR RORY: Those 19 kids include two sets of twins, which still means that mama Michelle went through labor 17 times. DEAR STACY: Jason Lee's "Memphis Beat" is one of the better shows of the last few years. Please tell when/if it is returning. — Jay S., Falls Church, Va. DEAR JAY: Yes, Season 2 of "Memphis Beat" gets under way in June. DEAR STACY: What is it that the chairman shouts to start off the competition on "Iron Chef"? It sounds like "I Gajin!" What does it mean? — Gary T., Coeur d'Alene, Idaho DEAR GARY: It's actually "Allez cuisine," French loosely translated as "Get cooking."
