Ask Stacy for March 2-3Ask Stacy for March 2-3 DEAR STACY: I thought Taylor Swift was very good in "Valentine's Day" and doing voice work in "The Lorax." Does she have more plans to act? — Valerie G., Cedar Rapids, Iowa DEAR VALERIE: Not in the immediate future — she has a full agenda with her huge "Red" concert tour that continues into September — but down the line, certainly. The songstress has made it clear that she intends to continue acting, and that she's being very deliberate about what she chooses to do. She also has said that she actually began her career as an actress, but after auditioning for a number of Broadway shows to no avail, she started writing songs. DEAR STACY: What's become of Mary Kay Place of "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman," "The Big Chill," and so many other TV shows and movies back in the 80s? — Scott P., New Port Richey, Fla. DEAR SCOTT: I guess you haven't been looking in the right places for Place, because, although not as prominently as in the past, she's never stopped working. She had recurring roles on HBO's "Big Love" and "Bored to Death." (A movie is being developed based on the latter, Jason Schwartzman series, by the way.) Also, a couple of years ago, she and Lily Tomlin made a pilot and five episodes for another HBO series,"12 Miles of Bad Road," but it never aired.
DEAR STACY: J.T. Walsh was a good character actor. What happened to him? — Cynthia B., Huntington, W.Va. DEAR CYNTHIA: Walsh died of a heart attack at age 54 in 1998. His final two films — "Pleasantville" and "The Negotiator" — were dedicated to him. DEAR STACY: We just watched that wonderful movie, "Big." The boy who played Billy, the friend of Tom Hanks' character, did a great job, with a couple of takes that were just priceless. Whatever became of him? — Melinda M., Cleveland, Ohio DEAR MELINDA: Jared Rushton grew up, of course. Prolific as a juvenile actor ("Honey, I Shrunk the Kids," "Overboard," etc.), he's now 38 and plays guitar and does vocals in a rock band called Deal by Dusk. His brother Ryan is in the same band. He kept active as an actor through the 1990s, logging lots of episodic TV guestings on shows from "ER" to "Cracker." COPYRIGHT 2013 STACY JENEL SMITH DISTRIBUTED BY CREATORS.COM
