ASK STACYDEAR STACY: Ty Burrell from "Modern Family" is a hoot. Where have I seen him before? Is he married in real life? Children? A little background, please. — Chelsea A., Cedar Rapids, Iowa DEAR CHELSEA: The 42-year-old Burrell is married — his wife's name is Holly — with no children. He hails from Grants Pass, Ore., and is a graduate of Southern Oregon University with a Masters in Fine Art from Penn State. Despite his way with a funny bit, his early roles were in hardly humorous fare including "Black Hawk Down" and "Dawn of the Dead," and stage productions including the 2000 Broadway presentation of Macbeth, and, off-Broadway, "Burn This" and "The Blue Demon." You may have seen him in the sitcoms "Back to You" and "Out of Practice." His other credits include "The Incredible Hulk" and "National Treasure: Book of Secrets" — and the forthcoming "Fair Game" (a movie based on former CIA agent Valerie Plame's book, starring Naomi Watts and Sean Penn), and "Morning Glory" (a Harrison Ford movie about TV morning shows). DEAR STACY: What happened to Chris Cuomo on "Good Morning, America"? I hope you can answer because the women from my AARP chapter, all over 80, have adopted him. — Mary Dorothea D., Bronx, N.Y. DEAR MARY DOROTHEA: Cuomo joined Elizabeth Vargas at the anchor desk of "20/20" in the "GMA" shakeup generated by Diane Sawyer's move to "World News." The well-liked Cuomo, who had a nice chemistry with Robin Roberts, was expected by many to ascend to the co-host chair on the morning show, but ABC wanted someone with more established star power and brought in George Stephanopoulos. From the posts on the show's website and the mail I've received, it's clear there are lots of unhappy Cuomo fans out there. DEAR STACY: We watched Luis Armand Garcia grow up on "The George Lopez Show," and I was curious what happened to him. — V.K. Queens, N.Y. DEAR V.K.: Armand, now 17, is focusing on his life as a high schooler in Stevenson Ranch, CA, outside Los Angeles. He reports, via MySpace, that he's maintaining an A average and loves sports, that he has played on his school football team and enjoys golf, skateboarding and hanging out with friends and family. DEAR STACY: I would like to know, who is the sexy actress that plays Cara on "Legend of the Seeker"? — Keith F., Brooklyn, N.Y. DEAR KEITH: That's 27-year-old Australian actress Tabrett Bethell, a former National Rugby League cheerleader.
DEAR STACY: Please explain why Simon Cowell is leaving "American Idol" to do "X Factor." Why can't he do both? — Tara M., Canton, Ohio DEAR TARA: It's not just that Cowell will be getting ready to launch the U.S. version of his British "X Factor" talent competition show in 2011. It's also that, as he told TV critics in January, "I've always said this was my last year (of 'Idol'). Everyone thought I was negotiating, but that wasn't the reason behind it. I felt like doing something different. I like the challenge. I want to leave 'Idol' this year, bigger and better than it's been before." Cowell produces "X Factor," which he also developed, and he has versions airing in 17 countries already. The biggest differences between "X Factor" and "Idol" are that judges take contestants under wing and coach them for "X Factor," and all ages are welcome. DEAR STACY: What's new with the talented Tony Danza? — Annette, Brooklyn, N.Y. DEAR ANNETTE: Danza has been busy co-instructing a 10th-grade English class at Northeast High School in Philadelphia for his forthcoming A&E reality show, "Teach." The shooting schedule ran from August through January, and included a musical production called "ExtravaDanza," with Danza performing alongside students as a fundraiser for Philadelphia school programs. He will be heard in the animated feature "Firedog," due in December. DEAR STACY: After viewing the old James Bond flick "The Living Daylights," I am wondering if Maryam d'Abo is the sister of Olivia d'Abo of "Law & Order: CI" and "The Wonder Years." Which is the elder? — M.S., New Port Richey, FL DEAR M.S.: The actresses d'Abo are cousins. Olivia is 41, Maryam 49.
