Ask Stacy, July 11DEAR STACY: My husband would like to know the name of the singer on the commercial for Massachusetts. He has a really good voice. — Marlene C., Oceanside, N.Y. DEAR MARLENE: That's Brian Setzer, the multi-Grammy-winning rock 'n' roll, swing and jump blues music man. The song is "There's A Rainbow 'Round My Shoulder," and Setzer's performing it with his Brian Setzer Orchestra. DEAR STACY: With the Amelia Earhart movie coming out, I am wondering about a TV movie that was made about her rival, Pancho Barnes. I believe it came out around 20 years ago. Who was in it, and is it available? — Laura H., Casper, Wyo. DEAR LAURA: You're thinking of the 1988 "Pancho Barnes," starring Valerie Bertinelli as the aviatrix. It was released on VHS in 1993, but never went to DVD. Used copies can be found on Amazon.com and elsewhere. DEAR STACY: When is "Lincoln Heights" coming back? Also, can you tell me more about beautiful Erica Hubbard? Age, background? — C.B., Brooklyn, N.Y. DEAR C.B.: The ABC Family series returns Aug. 4. Hubbard, 30, hails from Chicago and is a Chicago Bulls fan. She's unmarried, but says she is in a relationship. Hubbard started performing at age 9, in theater and in commercials including spots for McDonald's and Sears. She graduated from Columbia College in her hometown, where she also hosted the local children's show, "Up 'N Running," which earned her a regional Emmy award. She voiced the character Abby in the Disney Channel's "The Replacements." Other credits include "Akeelah and the Bee," "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants," "Save the Last Dance," "Light it Up," "A Cinderella Story" and the forthcoming Halloween release horror movie, "10,000 Doors." DEAR STACY: Is Animal Planet planning to bring back the show "Jockeys"? — Mel W., Westchester, N.Y. DEAR MEL: Yes, "Jockeys" mounts up with seven hour-long episodes beginning next month. The second season adds Corey Nakatani, described by Animal Planet as "fiery and unpredictable" and Jockey of the Year title holder Garrett Gomez to the roster of riders followed by the show's cameras. DEAR STACY: I was watching old episodes of "Designing Women" on DVD and wondered, what is Dixie Carter up to lately? I haven't seen her since she did "Desperate Housewives" a couple of years back. — Amy C., Brooklyn, N.Y. DEAR AMY: Carter's husband Hal Holbrook's indie film, "That Evening Sun" — in which Dixie plays his late wife in his memories and daydreams — has been crossing the country in film festival after festival this year. She hails his work as "a bravura performance" and the film as "a very edgy, raw and yet romantic piece" about a man who packs up his suitcase and walks out of his nursing home heading back to his farm. Her latest TV appearance was in a Hallmark Channel Christmas movie last year. While she's looking forward to doing more television, she makes it clear, "You're not going to see me on a reality show. I'm an actress, not someone who wants self promotion for self-promotion's sake." DEAR STACY: Can you give an update on Cathryn Damon of "Soap" fame? — Pauline P., Canton, Ohio DEAR PAULINE: The accomplished actress of Broadway, television and film fame succumbed to cancer in 1987, at age 56. DEAR STACY: Whatever happened to Kaye Ballard? Is she still with us? — Mary L., New York DEAR MARY: Indeed she is. At 83, the Broadway and TV comedic actress and singer released her memoirs, "How I Lost 10 Pounds in 53 Years," in 2006 — and says she's now thinking of doing a sequel, "Stories I Forgot to Tell." She appears on stage here and there, solo and in shows including "Palm Springs Follies" — a popular variety revue that features old time pros in that California desert town — and a 2003 road company production of "Nunsense."
