Ask Stacy, June 13

DEAR STACY: On "Dancing With the Stars" they have a teacher named Lacey Schwimmer and I want to know how she can teach if a couple of years ago, (when she was 18), she was on "So You Think You Can Dance" and she did not win? How can she have enough experience to teach someone to dance? — Joanne L., Levittown, N.Y.

DEAR JOANNE: Schwimmer has impeccable creds. She has competitive dance experience starting at age 7 and multiple youth titles. At 10, she and her partner won first place honors in the junior division at the 1998 U.S. Open Swing Dance Championships, for example. With film and TV work, live touring and dozens of competitions behind her, she has taught master classes here and abroad. Dance has been her life from the beginning, growing up in a family of champion dancers, including father Buddy (aka the "King of Swing") and older brother Benji — the Season 2 "SYTYCD" winner. On Season 3, she was the fourth place finisher, which was a disappointment, but certainly doesn't negate her accomplishments.

DEAR STACY: I was wondering if the actor Campbell Scott, who is on "Royal Pains," is related to the late George C. Scott? — Ashley K., Spokane, Wash.

DEAR ASHLEY: Actor-producer-director Campbell Scott is the son of George C. Scott and the late Colleen Dewhurst.

DEAR STACY: I'm curious to know if the same actress now in "The Unusuals" played James Woods' daughter on "Shark." — Mrs. Louise M., Astoria, N.Y.

DEAR LOUISE: Danielle Panabaker, who played Julie Stark on "Shark," is not on "The Unusuals," which toplines Amber Tamblyn. (Monique Gabriela Curnen is the other female in the "Unusuals" cast.) Danielle has been doing horror movie duty of late, with the recently released remake of "Friday the 13th" and the upcoming "The Crazies."

DEAR STACY: I watched the movie of "Annie Get Your Gun" the other day with friends and now am wondering about Betty Hutton. Is she still with us? Family? Details? I recall she led a very dramatic life. — Nancy A., Cedar Rapids, Iowa

DEAR NANCY: The rambunctious performer known for her brassy, energetic performances in films including "The Greatest Show on Earth," "The Miracle of Morgan's Creek" and "Red, Hot, and Blue" died of colon cancer in 2007, age 86, in Palm Springs, Calif. She was married four times and had three daughters, none of whom came to her funeral. Her troubled familial relationships were one of the sad aspects of her roller coaster life, which also included an alcoholic mother and a lost fortune.

Hutton's status as a Hollywood star pretty much ended in 1952 during contract disagreements with Paramount. She continued working in nightclubs and radio but in the mid-'60s her emotional state began to deteriorate. She had bouts of drug abuse and alcoholism. A suicide attempt eventually resulted in a nervous breakdown. Befriended by a priest, she pulled her life back together and began working as a rectory cook and housekeeper in Rhode Island. She enrolled in college and went on to teach acting, finally appearing to achieve peace in her later years.

DEAR STACY: What's happened to Ashley Angel? He seemed to disappear after his reality show and his solo album a few years ago. He was the most talented guy in O-Town. — Demi M., Torrance, Calif.

DEAR DEMI: Ashley Parker Angel did a full year on Broadway, 2007-2008, as heartthrob Link Larkin in "Hairspray." He and his fiancee of five years, Tiffany Lynn (who gave birth to their son Lyric on his MTV show "There & Back" in 2006) split last year and he wrote (a little too colorfully for a family-friendly column) about how good it felt to be single again on his MySpace blog. He also noted, "I do have the most incredible son in the whole world." He and Lynn are reportedly sharing parenting of their son. Back in Los Angeles, he's working on music.

DEAR STACY: I'd like to know the name of the actress who plays Astrid on "Fringe," and whether she has been in any other TV shows or movies. — Keith F., Brooklyn, N.Y.

DEAR KEITH: That's Jasika Nicole, from Birmingham, Ala. The pretty actress and illustrator's other credits include the movie "Take the Lead" and episodes of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" and "The Return of Jezebel James." She also has a role in DreamWorks' 2010 release, "She's Out of My League." Nicole is open about being a lesbian, telling AfterEllen.com, "I was completely unwilling to lie about who I was."

DEAR STACY: The series "Moonlight" was cancelled by CBS but [repeats] are now showing on Sci-Fi. Please tell me about the handsome actor named Alex O'Loughlin, who plays Mick St. John. — Arlene S., Bronx, N.Y.

DEAR ARLENE: You'll be seeing more of the 6-feet tall, thirtysomething actor come fall, since CBS picked up his "Three Rivers" medical show that centers on organ donor cases. He was born in Canberra and raised in Sydney, Australia, where his father is a physics and astronomy professor. He graduated from Sydney's National Institute of Dramatic Art in '02. Now based in Los Angeles, the actor, who won an avid fan base with his sexy portrayal of the "Moonlight" vampire main character, is linked to Aussie actress Holly Valance. His other credits include playing Detective Kevin Hiatt on "The Shield" and the features "Oyster Farmer," and "August Rush."
