WEEK OF OCTOBER 5Monday, October 5 The M.C. Escher drawing called "Relativity" is notable because the stairs it depicts go nowhere. In fact, there are three different sources of gravity, one for each stairwell. The painting inspired one of the couch gags in the opening for "The Simpsons" and a gag in "The Family Guy," in which Escher sings MC Hammer''s "U Can't Touch This" within the painting. (Weird Al also joked that his favorite MC was M.C. Escher.) Countries have their own Internet domains: Canada's is .ca, and Britain's is .uk. Even dead countries have domains.
