Seeking An Initial Response

This week we have a theme quiz on groups and people with initials. We'll give you the initials and you give us the full words for the initials. Give it a go.

1. The NAACP was founded in New York in 1909. What is this organization's full name?

2. This set of initials — LSmft — was used in radio commercials to hype their commercial product. What does it read as when spelled out?

3. REO was big in the automobile industry. What did it spell out as?

4. What did the letters NOW spell out for a liberal group?

5. The NRA is one of the leading conservative organizations in the nation. What is the spell out of these initials?

6. PTA doesn't end in the same listing of letters. What is its name?

9. What do the initials "OTB" spell out as?

10. The OSS was eliminated and ended up being replaced by a new government agency. Spell out the first agency and the initialed agency that replaced it.

The NAACP is the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

2. LSmft was spelled out as "Lucky Strike means fine tobacco."

3. REO were the initials of the famed auto executive Ransom Eli Olds, who founded the two autos labeled as the Oldsmobile and the REO.

4. NOW is the National Organization for Women.

5. The NRA is the National Rifle Association of America.

6. PTA stands for the National Congress of Parents and Teachers.

7. WAC is the abbreviation for Women's Army Corps.

8. NATO is the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

9. OTB spells out as off-track betting, meaning placing bets on an event when you're not at the place where the event is going on.

10. These were the organizations responsible for coordinating government intelligence activities. The OSS, spelled out as the Office of Strategic Services, was followed by the CIA, the Central Intelligence Agency.
