About Amy Alkon
“The Advice Goddess," by Amy Alkon, is an award-winning, hilarious and psychologically sound syndicated advice column that runs in over 70 newspapers across the United States and Canada. For five years, Amy also penned "Ask Amy Alkon," a popular advice column that ran exclusively in the New York Daily News.
Although the column reads as humor, it's based in science, psychology, evolutionary psychology and ethics.
Amy started her advice-giving career on the streets of New York ... literally. She was one of three women known as "The Advice Ladies," renowned for dispensing free advice from a Soho street corner. Amy and her former partners authored the Bantam Doubleday Dell book Free Advice -- The Advice Ladies on Love, Dating, Sex and Relationships.
Amy promotes the column in national media. She has made numerous television and radio appearances, including ones on Politically Incorrect, Good Morning America, The Today Show, NPR, CNN, MTV and Entertainment Tonight. She's had several TV offers for her own show. She does speaking engagements at colleges around the country.
Amy has written features for Mademoiselle, Los Angeles Times Magazine, New Times Los Angeles and the New York Daily News. Her Los Angeles Times Magazine piece won second place for "Best Magazine Feature of 1999," and her New York Daily News series won first place in the "dailies above 100,000 circulation" category -- both in the Southern California Journalism Awards. Amy is completing a book on relationships.
