I am accustomed to seeing mistakes in my local newspaper, but I was disappointed to see your political cartoon with a grammatical error printed in yesterday's The News-Star. The cartoon by bokbluster.com depicts a motorist who has been stopped by a police officer. His statement to the officer: "JUST TOOK OFF ON IT'S OWN. . .YEAH. .THAT'S IT." I believe it was in 5th grade that I learned to distinguish between the personal pronoun "its," which was called for in this quote, and the contraction for "it is," "it's."
