The Liberals' New Lexicon

Comment

Dear Readers: As most of you know, our language continuously evolves due to new technologies, global phenomena, fads and slang terms that become mainstream. But in this case, it sounds as though the English language has "devolved," courtesy of liberal pundits, journalists and the Democrat spin machine.

As a result of polling and focus groups, the liberal elites have transformed the meanings of a few words and phrases in order to put their political ambitions in a better light. As a public service, I am here to illuminate these changes and translate them so that you will be better informed and not fall prey to these left-wing shenanigans.

Progressives — Liberals apparently are so ashamed of the negative connotation of the term "liberal" that they are desperately trying to switch their name to "progressives" in order to change the public's perception of their agenda. I'm sure the next step is to have all the talking heads refer to conservatives and Republicans as "regressives."

Hardworking Americans — One can also open the liberal thesaurus and find the terms "working class," "working families" and "union workers" substituted for this entry. According to their definition, liberals would have you believe Republicans, conservatives and the non-liberal wealthy cannot in any way be associated with the word "working." We all know that only liberals — uh, I'm sorry, progressives — are the only people who ever worked for their money.

Rich or Wealthy — As in "tax the rich." President Obama loves this bait-and-switch technique. We can all agree that someone earning over a million dollars is wealthy, but the problem lies in that the majority of Obama's tax increase proposals involve people earning $200,000 or more.

Granted $200,000 is a nice living, but it's hardly in the league of the millionaires and billionaires that liberals so enviously bash.

Racism or Racist — The new definition of a racist is anyone who disagrees with President Obama. For example, back in the 1990s most on the right disagreed with the notion of Hillarycare. Today, those same people are called racist for criticizing Obamacare. I have consistently slammed liberal policies for years, but today if I bash Obama's actions, I might as well be wearing a white hood.

Preventative Care — Growing up, I was taught that brushing and flossing along with yearly physicals was preventative care. Under Obama's new lexicon, birth control pills and abortions are classified as preventative care and should be free. They are also suddenly constitutional rights. Let me get this straight, in a liberal's world pregnancy and unborn babies are diseases?

Everybody must pay their fair share — President Obama's favorite campaign bumper sticker is loaded with new definitions designed to promote envy and class warfare. The sentence breaks down as follows.

Everybody — Today only 53 percent of Americans pay federal income taxes. If Obama wants everybody to pay, shouldn't he require the other 47 percent to pay something? In other words, everybody actually means the group of somebodys that liberals legislate to be everybody. Not to be confused with Gladys Kravitz, who was a busybody.

Must pay — now means by force of the IRS or face jail time.

Fair share — whatever a liberal decides to be fair. The top 10 percent of income earners in America pay 70 percent of the income taxes, yet according to libs that isn't fair enough.

Just as soon as I consult with the mathematicians at MIT, look for future lessons on liberal math.

Lovely, couldn't have said it better. You might have mentioned that a balance budget means spend as much as you want and borrow the difference between what you make and what you spend.
Well said, say some more.

Fair share? Billionaire pays 13% of income for taxes, workers pay 28% of income for taxes, the actual rate paid counts not the percentage of overall amount of taxes taken in.Given your thinking as you approached no income the percentage of income for taxes would rise to 100%.Unfortunately then America would collect nothing.I suppose this is where the Chinese step in and those with no income would borrow to pay their "fair share " of taxes.

Re: WILLIAM KELLEY
I HAD TO LAUGH, I read Mark's article and he doesn't think 200K is a whole lot, Romney didn't think 330K was a whole lot, guess what, it is to 99% of the country,. They don't get it, their thinking is skewed by the fact that they are not needy, I know plenty of people who would be happy to replace the job they lost for 34Kgrand, even with no benefits. How many of the 1% pay less than 18% in taxes, how many corporations pay no taxes Plenty, I have to ask, why, when there is a perfectly nice Bank Of America on the corner where I live does Romney have to park his money off shore. I can't figure that out, I think the bank on the corner is very nice, nice carpet, friendly people, there is always a cheap pen available for my use, hmmmm, why is Romney's money in the Caymens and Europe. Sorry I digress:
I don't think my lexicon is different from yours, I am a progressive and a liberal, not in all areas, and neither is a dirty word. If it wasn't for liberals, slaves would still be working the fields, women wouldn't vote, wives would be pregnant with their eighth kid, it was liberals that fought for the women's vote, abolition, and birth control.
Ever notice that for anything that has been good for this country, the conservatives fought like hell against it, they can't stand change. They fought Medicare, I don't hear any of the holy trinity (Romney, Santorum, Newt) declaring that Medicare will be abolished if they are elected. Why is that? OH... because they would lose the AARP vote.
Funny that you bring up preventative care and you use abortion and birth control as two items that shouldn't be free. Didn't Santorum's wife have an abortion, yes she did, a gut wrenching personal tragedy that should be between her and her Dr...not a bunch of fat, rich, Republican white guys, and pruny tea party Christian women in Washington. Interesting that her husband would fight against that choice for anyone else. And yeah, anyone with an IQ would be happy to pay for birth control, especially if you are a fiscal conservative, birth control is cheap, babies are expensive. That is a no brainer, birth control should be in the water, free for all, if you want kids go buy the non birth control bottled water at Wal Mart, hmmmmmm Now that would be a real public service Mark, not your tired, overly used conservative dictionary.

The only way a corporation is paying no taxes or less than they are supposed to is because they are bribing the corrupt crooks in charge like Obama, Biden, Reid, etc. So Broom and Kelley, I am guessing that means you want them out of office right?

Broom, you keep proving what a useful idiot you truly are with every post. Just because it wasn't reported on MSNBC doesn't mean that it hasn't made news. Do you think it was a coincidence that among Obama's largest bribers, I mean donators or bundles are Jon Corzine and executives from Lightsquared and Solyndra? Why doesn't GE pay taxes? Only someone like you can't equate so-called campaign donations with paying to play. It is so obvious that you must choose to ignore such outright bribes.

Re: Thetruth

Oh, you mean campaign donations like the super Pac money using to slush fund Romney, I thought he said bribes, my BAD. I can't wait to see the quid pro quo on those bucks if Romney wins. Fact, if you want to argue about super pacs, you're wasting your time, it is all obscene on both sides. It was the stupidist decision ever made by the Supreme's, except of course when they selelcted Bush. I am a staunch believer in all money, every penny, out of politics in America.

I am vehemently against any pay-to-play scheme whether it benefits Obama, Romney, or any other politicians. I support any law banning such practices and favor prosecuting any politician involved in it. Prosecuting Obama's crony capitalism is a great place to start but if Romney gets elected and does anything like what Obama is doing, he should be prosecuted as well.

Re: Thetruth

I agree, get all of the money out of politics, prosecute any of them for, I guess we could call it "insider trading", hmmmm
hard to do though, Cheney made millions for his buddies by starting the war in Iraq, it wasn't a political donation it was a political decision that made a lot of his buddies rich. Hard to control that and with the lobbyists and other business interets, even without super pac contributions, there is massive cronyism.

This essay or post epitomizes what's wrong with the GOP. It (the indoctrination) also why I usually choose to turn and walk away and expect to continue to do so unless something fundamental changes in the GOP and their thinking. I'm older than you and I'm telling you the policies you're pushing are way out-of-date and proven failures.

It doesn't matter how old you are as it is painfully obvious, every single one of Obama's ideas and policies failed all over the world last century. What makes anyone think that they will produce a different result this century?

Out of his own mouth:
"every single one of Obama's ideas and policies failed all over the world last century"
So, Obama has instituted policies all over the world for the past century, and they have all failed...
I'm not going to be snarky, I'll let you reword this, I hope what you wrote is not what you meant

I don't have to reword anything, the statement, as written, makes absolute sense. Obama is recycling other leaders policies that failed last century. I am not quite sure where you are getting that I said Obama instituted the policies last century, perhaps you could explain.

"Obama is recycling other leaders policies that failed last century."

"every single one of Obama's ideas and policies failed all over the world last century"

if you think those two sentences are the same, then I can see why you don't get most, if not all of what's written. A while ago I suggested you take a critial thinking, reading for comprehension, and writing class, I still recommend it.

I don't mind someone who has trouble expressing themselves and miscontrues what others say, I do mind if they are arrogant about missing most, if not all points being made. You are arrogant in your confusion.

Nice try Broom, that lame attempt at an attack obviously came straight from the play book of your masters, attack the messenger because you have no intelligent response to the message. Anyone with a brain and ability to think for themselves fully understood what I said. As for you I have yet to see one post from you that deviates at all from the far-left liberal agenda nor have I seen one original thought. It as if someone else is dictating to you exactly what to say to support the disaster we now know as Obama. Keep trying, eventually you may say something original and intelligent but I won't hold my breath.

Take a class? The fantasy world of academia is the liberal answer for everything even though it has no relation to reality. No thanks Broom, I don't need an elitist, clueless professor sitting in his ivory tower who hasn't produced one penny of wealth in his life telling me how to think. Why do you think Obama has been such a failure? He has spent his entire life in the fantasy world of academia and hasn't the slightest clue on how business actually works.
