Dear Mark: It's the Terrorists, StupidDear Mark: I am appalled, disturbed and saddened by the tragic killings at Ft. Hood Army Base down in Texas. I believe the shooter, Nidal Malik Hasan, is a terrorist, but the administration doesn't seem to want to call this cowardice act what it really is. Why? — Frustrated in Florida Dear Frustrated: Political correctness is to blame. A fish stinks from the head down, and Barack Obama set the tone early in his administration when he didn't want his folks using terms like "terrorist" and "war on terror." As this story unfolds, we are beginning to see that Maj. Hasan sent up numerous warning signals that were not followed up on due to the political correctness in today's military. But don't to listen to me. Army Chief of Staff Gen. George Casey plainly made this point when he said: "Our diversity, not only in our Army, but in our country, is a strength. And as horrific as this tragedy was, if our diversity becomes a casualty, I think that's worse." Who gives a rat's butt about diversity in our military? The duty of our mighty armed forces is to protect our freedoms and liberty. Leave the sociology experiments to the universities. Personally, I don't care if our military is all black, white, Jew, Christian, female or even gerbils. Just successfully protect and defend the United States of America and its allies. Message to President Obama: It's the terrorists, stupid. It has been the terrorists in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan causing all of the problems, and now a terrorist act has once again happened in our own backyard. The president is showing his liberal mushiness by not calling this spade a spade. If Hasan had strapped explosives to his chest and killed 13 people, would Obama then call him a terrorist? What's the difference? I don't blame President Obama for the killings in Killeen, but he has approached terrorism with far less tenacity than health care reform.
Dear Mark: I read the news report about the muggers in Milwaukee who returned the victim's belongings and apologized because he was a member of the military. I am confused as whether to be disgusted or inspired. Can you help me? — Military Wife for Life Dear Wife: Both. You should be inspired that there might actually be some honor among thieves and maybe some hope for these individuals. On the other hand, you should be disgusted because the same cannot be said for most liberals, who have less respect for the military than those four Milwaukee thugs. Dear Mark: I always thought new golf balls were bad for the environment, and a CNN.com story confirms my suspicions. Danish researchers determined that it takes between 100 to 1,000 years for a golf ball to decompose. Why don't you conservative country clubbers get a clue about the environment? — Tiger Tamer in Toledo Dear Tiger: Yeah, yeah, and it takes a billion years for a disposable diaper to decompose in a landfill. Well not with what my youngest daughter puts in them. The anti-golf scientists came to this conclusion when they found hundreds of thousands of golf balls while searching for the Loch Ness Monster in a submarine. Serves them right for wasting all of that money. Country clubbers don't need to get a clue — they need to get some golf lessons. Dear Mark is a public platform for your enrichment and entertainment.
